No Construction Allowed on Holidays
Construction is not permitted on federal and District Government holidays. In observance of Christmas, Tuesday, December 25, 2018, and New Year's Day, Tuesday, January 1, 2019, all construction work, for which a permit is required, is illegal and could result in a Stop Work Order and may be subject to fines.

In Case of an Emergency
If a critical issue comes up during non-business hours, such as building issues posing a risk to the public, please contact Homeland Security at (202) 727-6161 to reach a DCRA Duty Officer. These building issues include:
- Fire-Structural or habitability assessment
- Structural collapse risk to public/other structures (i.e. vehicles impacting buildings)
- Weather damage
- Building habitability
- Inspection for reconnection of utilities

DCRA Holiday Closings
In observance of Christmas and New Year's Day, the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs will be closed and no construction is allowed on both Tuesday, December 25, 2018 and Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
DCRA is closed and construction is also prohibited on the following 2019 holidays:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday - Monday, January 21, 2019
- Presidents' Day - Monday, February 18, 2019
- DC Emancipation Day - Tuesday, April 16, 2019
- Memorial Day - Monday, May 27, 2019
- Independence Day - Thursday, July 4, 2019
- Labor Day - Monday, September 2, 2019
- Columbus Day - Monday, October 14, 2019
- Veterans Day - Monday, November 11, 2019
- Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 28, 2019
- Christmas Day - Wednesday, December 25, 2019

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead for services requiring an in-person visit as we may experience a high volume of customers during the business days before and after a holiday closing.
