You Can Now Register Your Vacant or Blighted Property Online
DCRA is pleased to announce a new online registration portal designed to
register vacant
or blighted buildings. An owner of a vacant building is required to
register their property within 30 days of it becoming vacant. Using the portal,
residents may also notify DCRA that their property is occupied.
Property owners also have the option to use this new portal to request an exemption, as well as, pay any fees
associated online. You must register online or have an established account to
access the new portal.
Failure
to register a vacant property can result in civil or criminal penalties of $2,000 in fines per
violation and up to 90 days in jail. Learn more about this new safe &
simple online system here. For more information, contact Vacant
Building Enforcement at vacantbuildings@dc.gov or call
