The 50th anniversary of the Federal Fair Housing Act (FHA)—enacted on April 11, 1968—is being celebrated across the country. On April 30, several District Government agencies will mark the end of the city’s month-long festivities during the 17th Annual DC Fair Housing Symposium.
In light of the FHA’s anniversary, the symposium sponsors have developed an impressive list of speakers who will discuss the state of fair housing in the District and efforts to ameliorate fair housing impediments. The event seeks to raise awareness about fair housing rights and responsibilities. It also plans to educate advocates, housing professionals, direct service providers, policymakers, and the public on the most common fair housing issues affecting individuals and families who seek housing. Below are the symposium highlights.
