Greetings,
It’s
Spring again and Daylight Savings Time isn’t the only thing moving forward,
DCRA is too. This is an exciting time of year for us as we prepare to provide
our best resources to help residents and businesses in the District of Columbia
achieve their goals. It starts here!
Our
Small Business Resource Center (SBRC) offers a wide variety of workshops to
help entrepreneurial interest turn into action. Coming soon, a free workshop
will be offered in collaboration with the National Immigration Forum’s New
American Workforce to assist eligible immigrants with the U.S. Citizenship
process. Immigration specialists will be available to help answer pertinent
questions on the application process.
Before
you know it, our month long celebration in May for Building Safety Month will
be upon us. This year, each week will focus on a theme that will highlight
building safer communities, how science and technology enhance communities,
safeguarding our water supply and construction safety standards. Here’s a recap
of the events and presentations for last year’s activities: dcra.dc.gov/buildingsafetymonth.
Whether
a new business, professional license, home repair or new construction, it
starts here at DCRA. We look forward to helping you achieve your objective in a
fair and transparent manner.

Weights & Measures Week
|
|
DCRA’s Office of Weights and Measures celebrated Weights & Measures Week 2018 from March 1-7, 2018. The Weights and Measures team spent four days at eight different supermarkets around the District highlighting three separate units—weighting, measuring and scanning devices—in which, by law, every establishment must be registered and inspected by DCRA. The Office of Weights and Measures interacted with hundreds of customers, posted displays and disseminated written material. Additionally, the team shared measuring devices that could be utilized for individual use. For pictures from this event click here. |
Consumer Protection Week
|
|
DCRA’s annual National Consumer Protection Week was March 4 – 10, 2018. DCRA, a NCPW partner, featured a resource table in the building lobby for customers to access
pertinent information to better understand their consumer rights and remind them to make well-informed decisions about money. We hope our customers found the resources to be helpful.
