 The summer is heating up at the MLK Library with a fun and family-friendly afternoon Decades Dance Party with DJ Reggie T. from WPFW 89.3 FM! Enjoy singing along and dancing to hits from across the decades on Sunday, Jul. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library and have a blast playing party games like ping pong and giant chess, checkers and Jenga.
The Decades Dance Party is the perfect opportunity to learn more and sign up for Discover Summer, DC Public Library's all-ages celebration of reading and learning.  The DC Public Library is proud to host Imagining the future. Leonardo da Vinci: In the mind of an Italian genius a monographic exhibit featuring 12 original Leonardo da Vinci drawings from the Codex Atlanticus, now on display at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library through Sunday, Aug. 20.
Sign up to get a tour of the exhibition that gives you a peek at the largest collection of original drawings and texts by Leonardo da Vinci in the world! Tours are now available each week on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. Capacity on the tours is limited to 15 people for the protection of the artwork. You can join Leonardo Chats each Saturday in the Great Hall of the library. Running each hour on the hour from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., you can enjoy an informative discussion with a guide before or after they visit the exhibit
Have little ones? Don't forget to also stop by the second floor of the library during your visit to see Leonardo's Lab, a fun hands-on exhibit that allows children to explore Leonardo's designs and ideas through building, sketching and texting activities!
Imagining the future is presented by Confindustria, the largest association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy; in partnership with Biblioteca Ambrosiana, a true Italian treasure trove comprising a public library, an art gallery, and an academy; and under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Washington D.C. and the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington D.C. Leonardo's Lab was developed by the Carnegie Science Center and brought to DC Public Library by the DC Public Library Foundation.

Library by Mail is a free service for eligible Washington, DC residents to check out library books, DVDs and magazines through the mail. DC Public Library staff will use your library card to check out materials on your behalf, which is customizable to your interests! Receive a call from one of our staff members after your application is processed to confirm the activation of your account and review your interests, then begin receiving materials to the address provided. The service is free and postage is pre-paid under the Free Matter for the Blind designation. There are no overdue loan fees.

 The Phillips Collection, DC Public Library, and The Nicholson Project are excited to partner to pilot the Collaborative Arts Resource District Fellowship Program (CARD), a collaborative 12-week fellowship that connects artists with professional and financial resources to create and bolster sustainable art careers and foster the contemporary art community in the Washington, D.C. area. Three awarded Fellows will receive tangible support to advance their craft, including a stipend, access to archives and art collections, connections to leaders and institutions in the Washington metropolitan area, mentorship opportunities, and the opportunity to exhibit their work.
