Benny has the Jets, Frankie Valli has the Four Seasons and DC Public Library has our Friends! This week we are excited to celebrate our Friends of the Library and their ongoing support of our work for National Friends of Libraries Week. What is a Friend of the Library? Friends are D.C. residents who are advocates for the Library. They contribute to the Library by offering support for programs or resources not normally provided by public funding. Friends provide financial support through membership fees, donations, book sales and special events AND Friends volunteer in the Library. So this week, we’re extending a massive thank you to the Friends of the DC Public Library for their ongoing support of libraries across the District; you are an integral part of the DC Public Library community and we are so grateful for all that you do.
Are you looking to have an impact in your community? Become a Friend of the DC Public Library! Julia Strusienski at Southeast Library shared, “Throughout the years, while the programs they've supported at the library have evolved -- from teddy bear picnics to dinosaur roaring contests and everything in between -- their generosity has been constant, and their own monthly book sales have, in addition to making that support possible, been a steady source of connection for the community.” Consider joining the Friends in cultivating connection through the library and become a member!
