Tonight- Councilmember Anita Bonds encourages community to attend National Night Out
WASHINGTON, DC – In an effort to foster stronger relationships between community and police, At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds encourages District of Columbia residents to attend one of the many National Night Out events this evening, Tuesday, August 2. Councilmember Bonds plans to join the Sixth District Kickoff at River Terrace Park at 5:30PM.
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch that takes place on the first Tuesday in August across the United States and Canada. Each year, the Metropolitan Police Department actively participates in National Night Out by interacting with community members throughout the District to join with neighbors and police officers to build stronger relationships between law enforcement and residents to prevent crime, strengthen community and build lasting partnerships.
“National Night Out builds and strengthens community-police partnerships where civic, social, and neighborhood groups work together to create safer and stronger communities. I encourage all to attend.” stated Councilmember Anita Bonds who has attended numerous National Night Out events throughout the years as a community leader, Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, and At-Large Councilmember.
