Our goal with this publication has always been to provide residents with answers to two questions – what does county government do and why should taxpayers care?
This year, in an effort to continue answering those questions, we wanted to back up the conversation a bit and introduce a series to help residents understand better what exactly county government is and how it fits in the big picture of government across the nation.
To do this, we are introducing a new County Roots series this year called County Government 101. This series will run in conjunction with our usual County Roots stories and will illustrate the work county government does for residents on a larger nationwide scale. We will alternate those articles with our continued features highlighting the efficiencies, partnerships and technology county employees are utilizing every day in their work for the residents of Weld County.
And because you're busy with life's daily tasks (and because we're realistic about how interested people are in the mechanics of government), the County Government 101 series will be infographic driven. That means a quick yet informative read for our audience.
We hope you find this series a valuable addition to this publication that you have helped make a success!

Every year, the Young Adult Job Fair offers young people a glimpse into the working world. It’s an event that, for many, serves as the launching point for successful jobs and careers. In the next issue of County Roots, we’ll explore the impact of the event as well as the partnership between the City of Greeley and Weld County that makes it possible.

Welcome to County Roots, the official newsletter of Weld County Government. For those of us who work in county government, we think what we do is pretty interesting. So the goal of this newsletter is to highlight some of the partnerships, technology and efficiencies we are using to make government stronger and more effective for its residents.
Our goal is to establish regular communication with residents, spur interest in county projects, highlight county accomplishments and provide meaningful information to the public. In fact, our goal is to live up to the name “County Roots.” Want to know more about the meaning behind the name? Please visit our webpage, where you can also find previous editions of this newsletter.
If you have a topic idea or general feedback about this new venture, please let us know at jfinch@weldgov.com.
