2022 Golden Gallery Art Show

The 2022 Golden Gallery Art Show is officially back!

After taking a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are pleased to announce our show will be in June. The Golden Gallery Art Show promotes the art of Weld County's 50+ residents and their extraordinary artistic abilities. The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public. The show will take place in the Two Rivers Lounge inside the Union Colony Civic Center.

 

The opening reception with hors d'oeuvres will take place on Wednesday, June 29, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The exhibit show dates will be open to the public Thursday, June 30, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and Friday, July 1, from 10:00-2:00 p.m.

Weld Aging Well Summer Classes

June

June 13, 2022: Walk With Ease - Increase your balance, strength and walking pace while building confidence in your ability to be physically active. This program is proven to reduce the pain and discomfort of walking. FREE for people 60 and older, but registration is required by calling (970) 400-6117.

June 28, 2022: Powerful Tools for Caregivers - If you are caring for a loved one at home, this workshop will help you learn to reduce stress, guilt, and anger; how to incorporate relaxation techniques; set goals and problem-solve (family caregivers only). Workshop meets once a week for six weeks. FREE, but registration is required by calling (970) 400-6117.

July 5, 2022: Cancer Thriving and Surviving - Are you a cancer survivor? In this 6 week workshop, learn new steps to improve your health, skills to regain a sense of empowerment and live a quality of life; including how to cope with fear of reoccurrence, depression, fatigue and a sense of isolation. July 10, 2022: Aging Mastery Program - Build your own personal playbook for aging well. This fun, innovative program empowers you to take key steps to improve your well-being, add stability to your life, and strengthen ties to your community. Meet new friends and provide encouragement to one another as you take the Aging Mastery journey together. FREE for people 60 and older, but registration is required by calling (970) 400-6117.

July 12, 2022 and July 21, 2022: A Matter of Balance - Learn ways to reduce the fear of falling and break the fear of falling cycle. A variety of activities address physical, social, and cognitive factors affecting fear of falling by focusing on practical coping strategies. Workshop meets once a week for 8 weeks. FREE, but registration required by calling (970) 400-6117.

July 25, 2022: Strong People - Maintain and improve strength, flexibility, and balance. Hand weights and legs weights are provided. Learn proper technique and intensity specific for you. July 26, 2022: Tomando - Sea proactivo y aprenda las herramientas para manejar usted mismo su condición crónica por ejemplo enfermedades del corazón, diabetes, artritis, COPD, dolor, etc. Aprenda a aplicar los conocimientos, como una nutrición adecuada, el desarrollo de un programa de ejercicios.

 

Este Taller se reúne una vez a la semana durante 6 semanas,  Comenzando Julio 26 a Agosto 30, 2022 cada Martes de 12:00 PM a 2:30 PM. 1 vez por semana por dos horas y media en línea por ZOOM. August

August 1, 2022: Tai Chi Moving for Better Balance - Improve your balance, increase strength, mobility, and flexibility while reducing your fear of falling. Learn eight of the 24 Yang-style Tai Chi forms. Learn to practice while standing or sitting. FREE for people 60 and older, but registration is required by calling (970) 400-6117. Registration opens July 11, 2022.

Friendly Fork Summer Evening Meals

Can't decide what to eat for dinner?

We've got you covered!

 

Area Agency on Aging presents Friendly Fork summer evening meals. Meals are every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Greeley Active Adult Center (1010 6th St.) and the Platteville Senior Center (508 Reynolds Ave.) from May to August 2022. Some of our menu items include chicken and pasta, hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, fruits and vegetables, and desserts, all while meeting 1/3 of your daily intake of nutrients. Up-to-date menus can be found at the meal sites or on our website, www.weldaaa.org. 

 

You are eligible to participate if you are at least 60 years of age or a spouse of a person at least 60 years of age. Guests are welcome to attend the program but must pay a guest fee of $14. Can't make it to dinner, feel free to try one of our 23 meal sites across Weld County for lunch!

Participants can contribute toward their meal; the suggested donation is $4. Services are not denied to eligible participants (60+ years, spouse of a person 60+ years) who are unable or choose not to donate. Adult Protective Services

APS

Adult Protective Services (APS) provides protection for at-risk adults by investigating allegations of abuse, exploitation, caretaker neglect and self-neglect. When appropriate, APS can assist the at-risk adult to arrange for services. An at-risk adult is anyone age 18 or older who is unable to meet their own basic needs or arrange services to meet their basic needs without assistance due to a physical or mental condition.
