Celebrate Women's History Month with us! The CWHF mission is to inspire by celebrating and sharing the enduring contributions of Colorado’s distinctive women. To achieve this, the Hall educates the people of Colorado about the stories of the women who shaped our state and the nation’s history with courage, leadership, intelligence, compassion, and creativity. Their talents, skills, struggles, and contributions form a legacy that the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame is dedicated to protecting.
ONE BOOK ONE VALLEY 2024
One Book One Valley (OBOV) is back for the 13th year, encouraging all residents to read the same book at the same time to create a Community Book Club.

Free showing of the documentary "Gather"
Gather is an intimate portrait of a growing movement amongst Indigenous Americans to reconnect with their spiritual and cultural identities. Through stories from the frontlines, Gather shows how the reclaiming of ancient food systems is a way forward for Native Americans to bring back health and vitality to their people.

Evenings of Engagement with Laurie Dameron
Join us! March 20, 5:30p.m. for live music at VPL!
Billboard Magazine award recipient, Laurie Dameron, has been playing the guitar for nearly 50 years and singing even longer. Between solo performances and performances with her band, Laurie D and the Blues Babes, she has performed for hundreds of venues in and out of Colorado over the past 25 years.
A broad repertoire of folk, blues, and jazz allows her to perform many different venues.
RECENTLY INSTALLED, CATCH IT BY APRIL 1ST! STORYWALK® AT BIGHORN PARK IN EAST VAIL
"THE WINTER TRAIN" BY SUSANNA ISERN
StoryWalk® is a year-round display that allows the reader to enjoy a book page by page while strolling through the outdoors. The featured book changes with each season.
To visit the StoryWalk®, drive or take the East Vail bus to Bighorn Park in East Vail.
This project was made possible through the LSTA CARES Act Grant funding provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Colorado State Library.

FEBRUARY'S PROGRAMS AND FEATURES FOR ADULTS
MEET OUR STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH: ABIGAIL!
Abigail has been with us since the end of November. Her primary focus is adult programming and community building! The library has always been a safe space for her since she was a young child and she has always loved reading.
Her hobbies include: Hiking, going to concerts, trying new food, traveling, reading, and doing something creative!

Each month we will feature a Vail Patron and find out what attracted them to VPL!
Cora, Claire, and Elena have frequented the Vail Public Library in the last month due to having a family member in Steadman Clinic.
The Vail Public Library attracted the girls in with all of the books and a quiet space to hangout.
March 19, 4 p.m.
Come create your own version of this Chair 5 Views Canvas Painting! All materials & step-by-step instruction will be provided. Alpine Arts Center is excited to offer art programs in partnership with the Town of Vail for a discounted price of $25 per person! Events are fun, social, and open to all ages unless otherwise noted (children should be accompanied by a participating adult).

We are excited to invite families to our early literacy storytimes, which are held on a drop-in basis.
Join us! with Ms. Laurine for stories, songs and movement activities that will entertain our youngest patrons - appropriate for ages 6 and under.

José Simón "Joe" Marquez was born on his family's "old Spanish land grant" in Tomé, New Mexico (currently known as Tomé-Adelino, NM). Inspired by their love of skiing and motivated by their entrepreneurial spirits, Joe and Charlene Marquez relocated to the Gore Creek Valley in 1962. They raised their family in Minturn and West Vail. The Marquez children attended Vail Mountain School. Their son Patrick was a member of the ski team at the University of New Mexico and the U.S. Ski Team.
Marquez is known for his ingenuity, enterprise, and skill as a tradesman. He was the proprietor of service stations and several businesses in Vail and Minturn. In retirement, Joe Marquez has rediscovered his artistic talent; he enjoys painting and sculpture. He can also be found fishing the local streams and rivers of Eagle County or playing golf.
