Vail Brand Research Findings & Positioning Strategy
- Sitting as the Vail Local Marketing District, the board heard a presentation on a series of research activities conducted by Resonance Consultancy to understand how Vail is perceived as a destination by Town of Vail residents, residents in the surrounding area and past visitors. The results were used to develop a positioning strategy that will assist in the creation of a new brand for Vail as a destination: “We brought Vail to life and it brings us to life; more than just a mountain, it’s a place with the power to bring us closer to one another and to nature, and show us moments we’ll share together forever.” The positioning, in one word, is “Connector.” Council was supportive of the direction, with a potential word change to “We BRING Vail to life.....” Next steps include a VLMDAC Board Meeting on Feb. 15 on the brand platform; and community focus groups the week of Feb. 26.

Joint Meeting with Vail Local Housing Authority
- The Vail Town Council and Vail Local Housing Authority took the opportunity to look forward together to 2024 and beyond on ways to best deliver local housing solutions in the Vail community. Developments, programs and initiatives located both in-town and regionally were discussed, in accordance with Vail’s “all of the above” approach to providing a continuum of housing.
-
Car Share Program Update
- Council members heard potential options for launching a car share program in Vail. The board is interested in the concept but would like more data and information. Specifically, the Town of Breckenridge recently launched a car share pilot and there is the potential to learn from their program. In addition, council members asked if car shares might be more successful if they are paired with a specific local’s housing development. Staff will return with more information.
