JANUARY'S PROGRAMS AND FEATURES FOR ADULTS
MEET OUR STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH: RICKY!
Ricky is one of our newest staff members. He chose to work at the library because he always wondered what the process looked like in running a library.
His hobbies include: making music and he loves weightlifting.
Favorite travel destination: Ensenada, Mexico. "It's a beautiful beach town with amazing food!"
PATRON ON A BENCH: WENDY ERB
Each month we will feature a Vail Patron and find out what attracted them to VPL!
Wendy is a long time Vail local and was initially attracted to the library through skiing and family vacation. Through the years she remains attracted by monthly book club and resources through the computer.

Join us! this month when we will discuss the book
"This Tender Land" by William Kent Krueger
"1932, Minnesota. The Lincoln School is a pitiless place where hundreds of Native American children, forcibly separated from their parents, are sent to be educated. It is also home to an orphan named Odie O'Banion, a lively boy whose exploits earn him the superintendent's wrath. Forced to flee, he and his brother Albert, their best friend Mose, and a little girl named Emmy steal away in a canoe, heading for the mighty Mississippi and a place to call their own. Over the course of one unforgettable summer, these four orphans will journey into the unknown and cross paths with others who are adrift, from struggling farmers and traveling faith healers to displaced families and lost souls of all kinds."

ORAL HISTORY: VAIL VALLEY VOICES
Dave Garton (left) and Packy Walker are legendary jesters and practical jokers of Vail, Colorado. Residents since the 1960s, Walker and Garton share some of their favorite antics. They are interviewed by Dave's son, Bart Garton. Tony Mauro, the "Voice of Vail," hosted the oral history.
ART @ YOUR LIBRARY
Vail Public Library proudly displays local artists’ work in our Community Room on a rotating schedule. Public viewing is available during library hours.
The art on display for the month of January is:
Painter George Lamb
Artist George Lamb resides in the Vail Valley and has developed his skill through continuously painting. Typically in a high mountain meadow or beside a slow- flowing brook, George finds his inspiration and stillness. His goal is to use the brush stroke and the intensity or transparency of the paint to capture the moment and bring the viewer into a quieter place.
This is George's first exhibit here at the Vail Public Library. He will be showcasing his work with a reception on January 10th from 4-6 p.m.
