Cultural Arts & Public Spaces Advisory Committee hosts a free needle felting workshop
Calling all artists! Are you experienced in or curious about needle felting? Participate in this unique fiber art workshop on Oct. 19 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road)!
With wool, create colorful, kid and pet-safe small sculptures, ornaments or decorations. Each participant will receive a wool-felting starter kit to take home to continue working on the projects they start in the workshop.
Due to working with needles, this class is for participants aged 12 years and up.

Share your thoughts to help shape the Marshall Fire memorial. Deadline has been extended to October 20!
The Cultural Arts & Public Spaces (CAPS) advisory committee invites residents to take a follow-up survey to help guide the next steps toward creating a memorial for the Marshall Fire.
CAPS and the Marshall Fire Memorial Subcommittee have worked through extensive data from last year's first survey that was led by a consultant team. Now CAPS is seeking further input based on their findings.

Nature at Night program shines a light on the coyote's world after dark
Meet with wildlife ecologist Ashley DeLaup to learn all about coyotes and what they're up to while we sleep. Discover the difference between normal and abnormal behavior, and familiarize yourself with what we need to do to reduce any conflict with these intelligent creatures. If you're lucky, you'll get to spot (or hear!) one or two of these fascinating animals.
Meet at the Community Park (1350 Coalton Road) basketball parking lot on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and make sure that you're prepared with weather-appropriate attire, shoes and water. See you there!

Climb to new heights at this month's recreational tree climbing session
Join us on Oct. 26 (formerly Oct. 13) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Community Park (1350 Coalton Road) to transport yourself back to your childhood and help your children make their own memories off the ground and into the canopy!
Up in the trees, you can enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape and get a new view of your life while having fun and exercising. You’ll also learn the tree climbing techniques that tree canopy scientists use to conduct their studies.
This program is highly adaptable to fit individuals with different physical needs.

Calling all ghosts, vampires and witches: Monster Mash is back!
We've got a spooky party planned just for you! The Superior Youth Leadership Council is once again hosting the Monster Mash Party on Oct. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road). This fun, family-friendly evening is free and open to everyone. No registration needed.
Get dressed up, grab the kids and friends and stop by for a ghoulish good time! This event will feature live music, sweet treats, thrilling games and activities, and the esteemed costume contest (for ages 12 and under starting at 5:30 p.m.).

Kukur Tihar, Day of the Dog celebration blesses our furry friends
Give your best friend a dog's blessing! The Superior Khandbari Sister City Project will be celebrating Kukur Tihar, "Day of the Dog," on Oct. 30 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Autrey Park (1830 Honey Creek Drive). At this free event, show your appreciation for your dog and let them enjoy all the dog treats that they can eat. In the spirit of the season, feel free to dress up your dog – they might even win a prize!
Please make sure that all dogs attending this event are leashed and well-adjusted to other dogs and people.

Get outside this month and attend a Halloween hike with the Open Space Ranger
Are you looking to get outside to enjoy the fall weather? Join us at the Coalton Trailhead (3495 McCaslin Blvd.) on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. for a festive, two-mile out-and-back hike!
Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Halloween costumes are encouraged! Wear good hiking shoes and bring anything that you may need like trekking poles, sunscreen, hat, water and snacks. See you on the trail!

Keep it Clean Partnership invites students to enter the Boulder St. Vrain Watershed art contest
K-12 students in Boulder County are invited to participate in a free art contest celebrating the Boulder St. Vrain Watershed to win cash prizes and art supplies!
Artwork should be inspired by the following prompt: “My favorite Colorado water memory is...." Students will submit a sentence about their memory and one piece of 8.5” x 11” two-dimensional art using the media of their choice: crayons, markers, pencils, paint, pastels, fabric, watercolor, chalk, markers, collage, etc. Photographs and digital art will not be accepted.

Tennis and pickleball court windscreens to be rolled up for the winter season
If you're an avid tennis or pickleball player, you may have noticed that Parks, Rec and Open Space staff members have begun rolling up the court windscreens. This is set to occur over the following two weeks, and is done every year to prevent damage to the fencing surrounding the courts. The screens are slated to return in mid-April of 2025.

Winter is approaching! Get prepared for the upcoming snow and ice with the Snow Busters program.
Volunteer for the Snow Buster program to help out your neighbors and keep the community safe! The Snow Buster program exists to assist residents who report they are physically AND financially unable to remove snow, sleet and ice from the sidewalk adjacent to their property remain in compliance with Municipal Code 11-1-20.
If you are in need of help or if you are looking to help others, you are in the right place! Volunteers will be assigned to a community member who needs assistance with snow removal.
To volunteer or request assistance, complete the Snow Busters program application.

Winter Festival lights up the holiday season Dec. 14
Prepare for a day filled with diverse activities: Superior's traditional Stocking Run 5k race, skating with Santa, shopping at the winter market featuring local businesses, taking photos with Santa and the Grinch, visiting live reindeer, creating your own arts and crafts, riding the bumper cars, live music and indulging in delicious food, festive drinks and treats. The event will conclude with a beautiful holiday lighting ceremony. It's never too early to plan for this enchanting celebration!

SCC Coffee Machine Update
As you may have noticed, Superior Community Center has been sporting a brand new coffee machine. Currently, all beverages, including coffee, hot chocolate and tea drinks, are free to the public. In the near future, drinks will be $2 per cup, except for at select town events, with payment taken via credit card only. If you'd like to get a taste before these fees set in, be sure to stop by soon!
