On Monday evening, the Town Board held a joint dinner with the Planning Commission. During Monday’s Town Board meeting, the Board: heard a presentation and held a discussion regarding Boulder Disaster Management Coordination and Communication; heard a presentation and held a discussion regarding the Town’s Waste Collection Services Agreement scope of service; approved advisory committee appointments; approved alcohol in public places permits; adopted a Resolution to increase the monthly fee to provide enhanced emergency 911 telephone services; adopted a resolution ratifying the Town Manager’s decision to enact a local stage 2 fire restriction in the Town and to order the Town Manager to enact, carry out, and rescind local fire restrictions; adopted a resolution appointing Sarah Nick to the Advisory Committee for Environmental Sustainability; adopted a resolution calling an election to be held on Nov. 5, 2024, in coordination with Boulder County and submitting a Sales and Use Tax Ballot Issue to the registered electors of the Town at such election; and adopted a resolution supporting a ballot measure for the debt issuance and increase in the Town sales and use tax rate for swimming pools, parks and playgrounds, street and sidewalks, and other capital improvement projects.

During Wednesday’s Finance Committee meeting, the members reviewed second quarter financial report, June 2024 income statement and discussed the 2025 budget, including CIP projects and funding.

PROS newsletter will cover Youth Corps accomplishments. Little Critters is wrapping up with Eldorado, very successful and they want to continue into the fall. Camping program is done for the season and did very well. World Ranger Day hosted at Wildflower Park, about 70 rangers and outdoor educators were present. Boulder County Commissioners has designated July 31 as World Ranger Day. Open Space master plan RFP was posted today. Anticipated to go through July 2025. Maintenance on new OS properties in Original Town was delayed for nesting Swainson’s hawks and Great Horned Owls nearby. The Superior Self-Storage drainage project is due to complete within a month. Picking some plots to plant some natives. CDOT Coyote Ridge parking lot is underway. Aug. 26 board meeting agenda to approve the half acre parcel. Boulder County historical trail no update. 1A grant funding-was used for winter goat grazing last year. We are applying and hoping for more funding this year. Sagamore and some Rock Creek neighborhoods are looking at different wildfire mitigation efforts with Wildfire Partners. Looking at best practices on Aug. 27 at Cristi’s house. She will send the flyer.

The Historical Commission met Aug. 16 and covered numerous topics. A representative from Right Relationships Boulder explained the mission of the organization which centers on increasing awareness and sensitivity to Native American history in the Boulder Valley. The Commission felt that this is a very good possibility for a program in 2025. The Commission worked on creating a to do list for the work session planned for Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. in the Grasso Bungalow. Then funding for curtains in the Asti Park Museum, a multi-person desk for the basement workplace and signage for the fire engine when on display were all approved. Having the fire engine in the Louisville Labor Day Parade was also approved. Discussion continued on the Miners Memorial, privy move and restoration, and the Fall Program slated for Oct. 3.
