Meadowlark Trail closed for cattle grazing through Sept. 13
Boulder County is closing the Meadowlark trail as a precaution due to injuries caused by hikers and bikers getting too close to cattle. Coalton Trailhead and all other trails remain open.

AI Art Competition deadline extended to August 18
Attention AI artists! Could you be the first AI-assisted Monet of the Rockies? Enter the statewide competition sponsored by the Town of Superior!
The competition, which has a "Technology & Emotion" theme, requires artists to create compelling visual or audiovisual work and think through the process of using AI, its impacts on the creative industry and the role of generative AI in the future. Double the fun: Two bands set to rock the Summer Concert Series finale Aug. 24!
Grab a lawn chair, blanket and your friends for the final Summer Concert Series on Aug. 24 at Superior Commons Amphitheater, 2130 Creek View Way, Downtown Superior.
5 p.m. - Jeff & Paige take the stage first with a family-friendly performance using songs, storytelling and interactive play.
6:30 p.m. - Hazel Miller & The Collective close out the night with a mix of jazz, blues and R&B guaranteed to rock the night!

Superior's Weed Warriors set to pull final session
The Weed Warriors are wrapping up their season with the final group weeding session on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The last day for individual weeding efforts will be Saturday, Aug. 31. If you'd like to join in during these final weeks, sign up on Civic Rec or email Open Space Ranger Phary Om.
All volunteers are asked to return their weeding tools, volunteer vests and equipment. You can keep your Town of Superior brim hat. Please drop off all items at the front desk of the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road). Stay tuned for updates on the Weed Warriors program for the 2025 season!

Pool season winds down with modified hours and a day for the dogs
Modified Pool Hours The North and South pools are open Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and on the weekends from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both pools will close for the season after Monday, Sept. 2.

Dog Daze at the South Pool on Sept. 5 Bring your furry friends to the South Pool (3300 Huron Peak Ave.) for a dog-friendly pool party on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 3 to 7 p.m. Dog Daze is a free event; donations to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley are appreciated. No humans will be allowed in the pool.

Walk With a Doc offers community group for fun, fitness and health tips
Take a step toward better health! This community walking group is a fun and safe place to take a walk at your own pace, learn health tips from local healthcare providers and meet new people. This event is free and all are welcome.
Join the next Walk With A Doc on Saturday, Aug. 31, or the last event for the season on Saturday, Sept. 14. Both events take place from 9 to 10 a.m. at Wildflower Park, 3151 S. Indiana St.

Save the date! Superior's signature Chili & Beer Fest coming in hot on Sept. 7
Mark your calendars and join us on Sept. 7 for a super spicy, fun-filled day at the 2024 Chili & Beer Fest! Come taste some of the best chili recipes and sample craft beers, ciders, wine and spirits.
Want to go? Entry to the event, which will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at Community Park (1350 Coalton Road), is free. However, regular admission to the Beer Fest, hosted by the Rotary Club of Boulder Valley, will get you unlimited tastings and a glass souvenir mug.
The Superior Chamber of Commerce is hosting VIP admission. These tickets offer all the perks of the general admission tickets, plus exclusive access to the VIP lounge, a taco bar, a photo booth, and specialty Mexican beers and wine.

Free Plein Air Workshop to Spark your Creativity
Join the Town's Arts & History division for a free outdoor painting workshop! Get inspired by the lush scenery and landscape at Purple Park to paint on site "en plein air". Learn to work in your medium of choice, whether watercolor with ink pen or acrylic paint.

CAPS seeks feedback to shape Marshall Fire memorial
The Cultural Arts & Public Spaces (CAPS) advisory committee invites residents to take a follow-up survey to help guide the next steps toward creating a memorial for the Marshall Fire.
CAPS and the Marshall Fire Memorial Subcommittee have worked through extensive data from last year's first survey that was led by a consultant team. Now CAPS is seeking further input based on their findings.

Boulder County Youth Corps supports Superior projects!
The Boulder County Youth Corps (BCYC) has been hard at work in Superior all summer, tackling important projects throughout our community. Here’s what they’ve accomplished:
- Removed invasive species around Town, collecting over 4,485 gallons of non-native weeds and removing 37 invasive trees
- Cleared 1,449 gallons of trash from open spaces and around Town
- Weeded, prepped and planted native plants in Purple Park’s pollinator garden beds
- Silt fence removal in Original Town
- Wire fence removal on open space properties
- Linseed oil application on Autrey Park Dog Park and other locations
- Trail maintenance and improvements at Autrey Park Disc Golf Course

New tee pads and improvements underway at Autrey Park Disc Golf Course; volunteers needed.
The Boulder County Youth Corps has been a key player in creating new concrete tee pads and improving trails at Autrey Park's disc golf course, with nine new 6' x 12' tee pads now in place. The Town is awaiting the arrival of new disc baskets and the creation of course signage, with hopes of completing the project this fall.
The Town is forming a disc golf volunteer group to assist with future improvements; interested volunteers should email Recreation Coordinator Jeremy Hoffman.

Join Superior’s wildlife efforts: Two volunteer programs accepting new members
The Town offers two volunteer opportunities for residents eager to monitor and protect local wildlife, and both programs are currently welcoming new volunteers. For more information, email Open Space Ranger Phary Om.
The Superior Wildlife Monitoring Program documents wildlife activity, including coyote, fox, bobcat, deer, elk, beaver, raccoon, muskrat, and skunk. The group gathers information to educate residents, reduce human/wildlife conflicts and improve the Town's efforts to preserve wildlife.
Superior's Raptor Monitoring Program recently completed its fifth session with impressive volunteer participation. The program aims to identify bird species present in Superior, monitor nesting activity and protect habitats while educating residents.

What's new at the Superior Community Center?
Avenue C Micro Market Now Open The Avenue C Micro Market is now open, offering a convenient self-serve, self-checkout experience with a variety of fresh and shelf-stable options for all visitors.
A coffee machine and microwave were recently installed. In response to feedback, the vendor will be adding more fresh foods and ensuring items are fully stocked. Please give us your feedback on what you like and what items you prefer.
Serendipity Catering will continue to provide beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages during DJ JAMMIN' game nights, open mic nights, Town events and private reservations.

Facility closed for Labor Day holiday Please note that the Superior Community Center and Town of Superior offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

New art exhibit honors local arts devotees The community center is hosting a new art exhibit! "Superior Volunteers" will be on display Sept. 6 through Jan 6. The exhibit will feature artworks by and pay tribute to the Louisville Art Association's (LAA) most dedicated volunteer members, who have generously contributed their time and effort to support their fellow members and the arts community.
Don't miss the opening reception on Thursday, Sept.19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., where you can meet the artists and enjoy light bites, beverages and live music! Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
LAA is a nonprofit organization with over 200 members, many of whom reside in Superior. For the past 44 years, they have been enriching the communities of Boulder County through classes, workshops, exhibitions and shows.
