Welcome to the May edition of the Parks, Recreation & Open Space newsletter!
We're getting ready to kick off another awesome summer season! Our hardworking landscaping crew is busy prepping the flower beds, our amazing aquatics team is putting the final touches on our pool facilities, and the whole team is ready to make this a summer to remember with a ton of fun fitness and enrichment programs. You're invited! Miners Park Grand Opening May 19
Residents are invited to check out the newly completed Miners Park at 982 Meridian Lane! Join us from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 for a Grand Opening celebration with delicious cookies from Boulder Baked, music, mining activities and an opportunity to learn about Superior's mining history from a member of the Historical Commission.
Parking is very limited; please bike or walk. Water and a portable restroom will be available.

North and South Pools open for the season May 24
Summer is almost here, and Superior residents have two great options to beat the heat. The North Pool (1650 S. Indiana St.) and the South Pool (3300 Huron Peak Ave.) will open for the summer season on May 24.
Pool admission is free for Superior residents, but a no-cost SplashPass is required to access the pools. Visit SuperiorColorado.gov/Pools for SplashPass details, pool schedules, swim lesson information and more.

You can help pollinators and beautify our community!
The Town has two upcoming volunteer projects to support our buzzing and swooping pollinators and make our community even more beautiful! Click on the projects below to see details.
Looking for additional volunteer opportunities? The Town is seeking volunteers to remove noxious weed species from May through September. Email Open Space Ranger Phary Om or call (303) 499-3675, ext. 136 for more information.
Superior pets shine in resident photography contest. Opening reception May 30.
Join us for the Opening Reception for Superior Pet SNAPS! You'll have the chance to see your neighbors' zany, adorable, and in-action pet photos, plus enjoy hors d'oeuvres and live music by singer and songwriter David Henning. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.
The Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, May 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road).

Join us June 1 for a fun-filled family event on National Trails Day
Come out for a free, family-friendly celebration of the great outdoors hosted by the Open Space Advisory Committee!
Participate in interactive community booths, goat feeding and live animal presentations. We’ll also have plenty of opportunities to get out on the trails! Join the fun at National Trails Day, June 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at Coalton Trailhead (3495 McCaslin Blvd.).

Summer Concert Series returns to Downtown Superior on June 15!
Get ready for summer fun with live music, food trucks and friends! The Summer Concert Series kicks off on Saturday, June 15, with a blend of funky and contagious fun from Soul School!

Registration is open for the 4th of July Kickball Tournament
Get ready for an awesome community event! Registration is open for the 4th of July Kickball Tournament hosted by the Superior Youth Leadership Council.
Playoff games will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 9 a.m. at Scanlan Field, Community Park (1350 Coalton Road). The winning teams will compete in the Championship Game at 11 a.m. during the Town's 4th of July Celebration. The winner of the tournament will have their team name engraved on the Town trophy!
Excited to join in the fun? Registration is free and closes on Friday, June 21. The minimum age to participate is 10, and while we encourage group registration, we will place any solo sign-ups on a team as free agents so that everyone can join in the fun! Register today!

Superior needs you! Share your time and talents and make an impact on your community by volunteering for an Advisory Committee.
These committees, commissions and councils work towards solving problems, researching possibilities and suggesting improvements for our Town. Many members' terms end in July and a number of openings are available. Click the links below to learn more about each group and apply.

New event! Make music with CAPS at the Silver Music Meetup
Silver Music Meetup Sunday, June 23, noon to 3 p.m. Superior Community Center, 1500 Coalton Road
Are you a music lover who enjoys performing for others? Join the Cultural Arts & Public Spaces (CAPS) committee for the Silver Music Meetup to dust off a favorite tune, polish up for a performance or just play for a supportive audience. All instruments and music makers are welcome! This event will be led by local music mentor and CAPS member Suz Paxson. Please register.

What's Happening at the Superior Community Center?
Boots & Bling brings community together to support Eldorado PK-8
The SCC is all about community! Eldorado PK-8 recently hosted a fun event called Boots & Bling at the community center. The event included an online silent auction and a live auction and raised over $25,000 for the Eldorado PK-8 PTO! Guests enjoyed dinner, drinks, dancing and Texas Hold 'Em tables.
