Embark on a journey of exploration and adventure with our Outdoor Trip Planning and Park Passes class! While this course is aimed at more novice adventurers, people of all ages and skills are welcomed. This course is designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge of planning unforgettable outdoor trips while utilizing the wide variety of park passes this country has to offer.
Our instructors will help you understand the fundamentals outdoor trip planning, navigate state and federal park pass and permit systems, and walk you through the nitty gritty of trip logistics and safety.
Are you curious about butterflies or ever wondered where monarchs go during their incredible migration? Join volunteer naturalists for a beginner’s guide to our colorful local butterflies. This slide program will review the amazing life cycle of butterflies, and will cover basic information on behavior, host plants, identification tips and more.

Ages 7 and up
Recreational tree climbing gets kids, youth, adults, couples and families off the ground and into the canopy. Up here, you can enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape and get a new view on your life while having fun and exercise! This program is highly adaptable to fit individuals with different physical needs.
Equipment will be provided and boots are recommended.

Join wildlife ecologist Ashley Delaup to learn the basics of backyard bird watching! You'll discover ways to get a good look at various bird species traveling through Colorado's major migration pathways and our year-round resident bird species.
Bring your binoculars and meet at the parking lot by the dog park.
Did you know you can help our pollinator friends and beautify our community at the same time? Join the Town's Open Space Ranger, Phary Om, the Butterfly Pavilion and Friends of Coal Creek, to create a beautiful garden with a very important purpose.
Volunteers will help clean an area in Purple Park designated for a garden bed, give the plot some special care and plant specific plants chosen to support our local pollinators.
Wear sturdy shoes and protective, weather-appropriate clothing. Sunscreen and a hat are encouraged. Bring your water bottle, gloves and your favorite gardening tools, if you'd like. The Town will provide all the necessary equipment and supplies and a water station.
Important Note: Youth 10-13 are welcome but must be directly supervised by an adult.
