Celebrate Earth Month with events and activities that are fun and eco-friendly!
April 13: Bring hard to recycle items to the Hard to Recycle Event
Join us on Saturday, April 13, at the annual Household Hazardous Waste, Hard to Recycle and Mower Take Back event! Residents can drop off many items for free, including small electronics, paint, household batteries, and household chemicals. Some items can be recycled for a fee, including TVs, monitors, and fire extinguishers (the Town will cover 50% of the costs as funding allows). Please see a full list of accepted items on the event flyer. Registration is required.

April 20: Volunteer at the Mason Bee Installation project
Join this family-friendly and educational volunteer event focused on our local Mason Bee pollinators! Volunteers will help collect reeds for habitat building, paint and prep pollinator capsules, and prepare the local habitat for pollinator installation. Reed collection will take place in the marsh areas, so pants and waterproof shoes are encouraged. Please register.

April 24: Learn about Xcel Energy’s Smart Meters and time of use billing
Want to learn more about how to read your energy bill, the new time of use rates, or about Xcel Energy’s transition to smart meters? Join Xcel Energy and Superior’s Advisory Committee for Environmental Sustainability (ACES) for an informational evening with expert presenters including tips and tricks on how to save money, rebate opportunities, and more. April 27: Plant and appreciate local trees at Arbor Day
Celebrate and plant healthy trees at the Town’s Arbor Day event on Saturday, April 27! This free, family-friendly event will feature green entertainment and educational opportunities. Along with a traditional Tree City USA tree-planting ceremony in Purple Park, you can look forward to learning about birds of prey, meeting our community goats, enjoying a Butterfly Pavilion story time and more!

1-2-3 Electrify! Your Guide to a Greener, Cleaner Home and Ride
Interested in making the change to a cleaner and more energy-efficient home or ride, but not sure where to start? 1-2-3 Electrify is your step-by step guide to residential electrification, no matter where you are on your electrification journey! Throughout the summer, the Town of Superior and the Cities of Louisville and Lafayette will be hosting workshops where you can connect to resources to make your journey easier and more cost-effective. Introduction to Electrification: May 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Superior Community Center
Step 1. Plan: June 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Louisville Recreation & Senior Center
Step 2. Purchase: Electrification Expo, with an EV ride and drive and more! July 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Superior Community Center
Step 3. Perfect: Aug. 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Louisville Recreation & Senior Center
Each interactive event will include presentations and Q&A with local experts, industry experts, contractors, utility representatives, and city staff. This workshop series will be delivered in partnership with Xcel Energy's Partners in Energy.

Last chance to sign up for Lawn Replacement Program priority deadline!
We are quickly approaching the April 1 priority deadline to submit your application for Resource Central’s Lawn Replacement Program. This great program is an easy option to help you transform your thirsty lawn into a beautiful, low-water landscape. Simply plan your project, choose your discounts, then apply. After that, you’ll have an optional phone consultation with Resource Central’s advisors, and then you’ll be ready to remove some lawn!
If you submit your application by April 1, projects will be completed by July 1. Once the priority deadline passes, projects will continue to be accepted as space and funding allows, but will be completed in late summer. Colorado’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Reduction Roadmap 2.0 published
The State of Colorado’s second Greenhouse Gas Pollution (GHG) Reduction Roadmap was published in late February and includes an updated emissions inventory and new Near-Term Actions that will guide the state to its goal of a 50% emissions reduction by 2030 (compared to 2005 levels). The roadmap also shows that without any changes to rules or laws, the state is 80% of the way to meeting its 2030 goal.
