Welcome to the Superior Sentinel!
Click this image to watch this month's Mayor Lacis' vlog.
Hey Superior,
This is one of my favorite times of the year -- school is out and the pools are open. The Rock Creek Flyers are already practicing and are ready for another great swim season.
Superior has two pools: the North Pool (on the corner of Indiana & Rock Creek Parkway) and the South Pool (at the intersection of Huron Peak & Mt. Sopris). Pool admission is free for Superior residents, but a no-cost SplashPass is required for each member of your household (all ages). If you’re new to Superior, you can register for your SplashPass online. If you had SplashPass last year, you can renew your SplashPass for this year at the Superior Community Center, over the phone at 303-554-9005, or in person when you come to the pools for the first time.
While our pools are a popular amenity for our residents, they are starting to show their age. Over the coming years, the Town Board will need to invest in both pools. That investment could range from general upkeep to reimagining and reconstructing the pools altogether. Perhaps there are things that are missing from our pools that could be added in the future. We want to hear your thoughts. Let the Town Board know at townboard@superiorcolorado.gov how you would like us to invest in the future of our pools.
Have a great summer and I’ll see you at the pools.
Respectfully, Mayor Mark Lacis

Coal Creek Meals on Wheels Seeks Donations after Significant Increase in Community Need
This year, Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW) has seen a dramatic increase in the need for their services. March saw the highest number of meals served in the organization’s history, with a 20% increase in the number of meals served from January to May.
“Along with the influx of new clients, we are also seeing a significant decrease in the amount our clients are able to contribute toward their meals,” said CCMOW Executive Director Lark Rambo. “Currently, more than 40% of our clients are on ‘emergency funding,’ meaning they are unable to contribute anything toward the cost of their meals. The average contribution is now $1.70 per meal, and it costs us $7.43 to produce each meal. As costs remain high due to inflation, we expect that the number of clients we are serving will continue to increase.”
Donations are needed to ensure that CCMOW can continue providing nutritious meals and social contact to everyone in need in our community.
CCMOW has no requirements to receive services and anyone in Superior, Lafayette, Louisville and Erie is eligible regardless of age or income level. Those who are interested in receiving services can call 303-665-0566 or visit www.coalcreekmow.org to sign-up.
