Composting Guidelines Have Been Updated and Simplified!
We’re cleaning up our compost, Colorado!
For those residents who use composting services, compost guidelines have changed. Compost haulers and municipalities all along the Front Range are working with regional compost manufacturer A1 Organics to create a high-quality, clean-finished compost product.
 What This Means for You
Less items in the compost bin! Whether you have compost at home, at a business, or at events in the community, food and yard trimmings are IN, and plastics and all other materials are OUT. This will help keep contaminants out and increase the effectiveness of our composting.
Put these IN the compost bin:
- Food scraps with NO stickers, rubber bands, or twisties.
- Yard & plant trimmings: grass, leaves, flowers, twigs, etc.
Keep these OUT of the compost bin:
- All food and drink containers, even certified compostable packaging, plates and cutlery
- Plastic bags
- Compostable bags (with the exception of 3-gallon compostable kitchen countertop bags)
- Everything else!
