Town Welcomes New Sustainability Analyst!
Please welcome Alexis Bullen, our new Sustainability Analyst! Alexis has been working in sustainability in Boulder County for the last eight years, most recently at the City of Lafayette. She received her degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon and is passionate about making environmental topics accessible to everyone.
Alexis enjoys doing outreach and is excited to work with the community of Superior, as well as to jump into implementing the Sustainability Action Plan. When she's not working, she can be found walking around her neighborhood with her daughter, cooking up something tasty, reading tales of fantasy or adventure from the library, or in her garden. Welcome, Alexis!

Sustainability Action in Superior
A Successful Girl Scout Leaf Collection!
In partnership with the Town of Superior Advisory Committee for Environmental Sustainability (ACES), the Girl Scouts of Superior teen GECCCO troop collected 447 bags of leaves across 51 houses this year! This service prevents leaves from going into landfills and ensures that they are composted instead.
In future years, please be sure all content in the bags (and the bags themselves) are fully compostable and plastic free.

Americans create 25% more trash during the holiday season! This year, check out Eco-cycle’s green holiday guide to help you have a meaningful, waste-free holiday season. The two-page guide includes ideas for reducing holiday waste, green gift giving, and a holiday item recycling guide. Here are just a few of the tips:
Consider alternatives to wrapping paper. Gift wrapping paper is considered a contaminant in the recycling bin because of its high clay and ink content and low fiber content. Consider using brown kraft paper, fabric, or newspaper instead.
Recycle your Christmas tree from December 26 to January 31 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily at the Superior Yard Waste Site located at 2125 Honey Creek Lane.
Get rid of junk mail. Take the time to call the 1-800 number on your unwanted mail and ask to be removed from their list. Or scan the guide’s QR code for more ways to unsubscribe from junk mail. This action will reduce waste and the urge to buy more!
