A delegation from Khandbari, Nepal will be in Colorado from September 13 to September 21 as a part of the Sister City program with Superior. The group will be hosted by the Town of Superior and will participate in a full schedule of activities including visits to Eldorado PK-8, Avista Adventist Hospital, the Superior Fire House and Boulder County Elections office. Also on the scheudule, the delegation will tour Town Hall, local parks & trails in the area and the water and wastewater treatment plants. Finally, several educational meetings are planned. The delegates will meet with the Historical Commission, representatives of  Xcel who will present information about gas & electric services, and experts who will teach about trash collection and landfills. To cap off the trip, the group will visit the Coiorado State Capitol where they will meet with Governor Jared Polis.

Overview of the Sister City Program:

In February 2021, the Town of Superior officially voted to establish Khandbari, Nepal as its first Sister City. The sister city relationship between Khandbari, Nepal and Superior, Colorado was established:

• To promote a greater understanding of the different cultures and develop friendship among citizens in both cities
• To encourage travel between both cities to expand tourism and explore business exchange ideas
• To develop and support projects in both cities focusing on arts, culture, education and sustainable development and humanitarian assistance
• To establish a pen-pal program for elementary students of both cities to build friendships and cross-cultural understanding
