Welcome to the Town of Superior sustainability newsletter. Here you will learn about the work we are doing and the ways you can be involved in sustainability and climate action initiatives!
What do we mean when we say sustainability?
The word sustainability is used in a lot of ways and has a variety of meanings. For Superior, sustainability means meeting the needs of current generations that live here, without compromising the needs and quality of life for future generations. Our sustainability work emphasizes efforts to reduce community-wide greenhouse gases, increase resilience and conserve biodiversity without foregoing economic and social progress in Superior. The focus areas of our work include climate, energy, zero waste, water, air quality, transportation and natural systems.
To learn more, you can visit the Town’s sustainability webpage or, if you have a bit more time, you can read the recently adopted Sustainability Action Plan.
This monthly sustainability newsletter is a great way to stay informed about what is happening in Superior sustainability, and to stay connected to resources and tools to live a more sustainable life. Keep reading for resources and information on water conservation programs and rebates, curbside composting information and more!
Sincerely,
Mike Foster, ACES Chair Alyssa Vogan, Town Sustainability Analyst

The Town of Superior, City of Louisville and Boulder County will host a series of in-person workshops and networking events this summer to help residents navigate the resources and tools available on the County’s Rebuilding Better website. Save the date on the evenings of June 1, July 13 and August 3 to get your questions answered by experts.
Whether it’s choosing the layout of the home, materials, or appliances, design and construction play a critical role in ensuring a healthy and comfortable home. The first workshop in the series takes place on June 1, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Louisville Recreation and Senior Center. This workshop will help you answer questions about improving your home’s comfort, as well as how to find the right team to design and construct your high-performance home.

Residents learn about water quality and stormwater systems at Arbor Day
At this year’s Arbor Day Celebration, residents were educated on a variety of environmental topics including how to support healthy, thriving ecosystems, how to properly fit a bike helmet, the importance of keeping stormwater drains clean and more!
Advisory Committee for Environmental Sustainability (ACES) members Michelle Gazarik and Melissa Cates shared how individuals can contribute to protecting our water quality by being aware of what goes down our storm drains. The takeaway message about stormwater drains that was being shared with participants: “Only rain down the drain.”
The Town of Superior participates in the Keep it Clean Partnership with the goal of improving watershed health. Residents can learn more and find resources on the Keep it Clean website: https://www.keepitcleanpartnership.org/resources/for-residents/
