Water Odor & Taste Update
The Town has received several reports of water that may smell like smoke in homes. The Public Works Department continues to work with its partners to encourage proper flushing inside properties following a fire. We are coordinating resources to determine the source of the odor, including odor detection assessments and ongoing water sampling. This is an ongoing effort and updates will be made available as more information is available.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment coordinated with us to test the drinking water in the Town of Superior. The water meets drinking water standards. These tests sampled for regulated contaminants, including bacteria (E.coli) and volatile organic compounds (such as benzene). Technical information about this incident will be available in the state’s Environmental Records management system. Residents and business owners may pick up bottled water at the community center as an alternate source while more information is being gathered.
Next Steps:
Thank you for your concern and your patience.
