Superior Sentinel - DECEMBER 2020
|
Dear Superior Residents,
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving holiday and are doing as well as possible during these challenging times.
As you may know for the past couple of years we’ve hosted a December sock donation collection point at Town Hall in support of the Sock It To Em Campaign. https://sockittoemsockcampaign.org/ This important organization was founded to help raise awareness that socks are the most needed item for people experiencing homelessness. Over the years Superior residents and friends have helped to donate thousands of socks to those in need! We’ve distributed the socks collected in Superior in years past to local organizations such as Boulder Shelter for the Homeless and A Precious Child in Broomfield. https://apreciouschild.org/
This year given the need to reduce the number of in-person visitors to Town Hall, we are unable to host a sock donation drop-off location but the needs in our community are still more present than ever. I’ve always been impressed with the giving spirit in our community and this year Superior residents have stepped up to help friends, neighbors, local businesses, restaurants, first responders, healthcare workers and so many more. THANK YOU! This month, in lieu of stopping by town hall this month with a sock donation, I would encourage you to pick the organization of your choice and donate using various online websites. If you’re not sure where to start or give, I’d recommend checking out the Colorado Gives Day Website: https://www.coloradogives.org/COGIVESDAY
In closing, please continue doing your part to reduce the spread of the virus by following the latest guidance from Boulder County Health: https://www.bouldercounty.org/families/disease/covid-19/
From our family to yours, we wish you a very safe and healthy holiday season.
Mayor Clint Folsom

Vaping Disposal
Proposition EE passed last month which means the price of tobacco and nicotine containing products will increase this January. This is a great time to consider quitting and the Colorado Quitline can help you with free resources. Connect with your personal quit coach today. Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW or enroll online at www.coquitline.org. It’s also important that vaping devices are disposed of properly. Nicotine is listed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a hazardous waste. Not disposing of these products correctly may lead to accidental contact with nicotine. Boulder County residents can bring nicotine devices and e-liquids to Boulder County’s Hazardous Materials Management Facility for free disposal by appointment only at www.boco.org/hmmfappointment. To learn more, visit: www.boco.org/vapeaware.
