A Message from Mayor Clint Folsom:
Boulder County Moves to COVID-19
Level Red, Severe Risk

Town of Superior Residents,

The threat of COVID-19 is real and I along with other metro area mayors are reaching out to our communities to communicate the need for all of us to do our part in fighting the spread of this virus. As each of us takes personal responsibility, we are not only keeping our neighbors safe but we are also helping to not overwhelm our hospitals and overextend our health care professionals.

In response to the increasing cases, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has moved Boulder County to Level Red, Severe Risk on the latest COVID-19 dial. The metrics for Level Red are as follows: (1) New COVID-19 cases are at an incidence of greater than 350 per 100,000 in a two week period; (2) The percent of positive results over a rolling 14 day average is greater than 15%; and (3) Hospitalization rates are increasing in the preceding 14 day period. This new order taking effect Friday, November 20 at 5:00 p.m. increases restrictions throughout the Town including:

  • All at-risk populations are recommended to stay at home.
  • In-person personal gatherings are not permitted.
  • All gatherings between households of any size in any location, public or private, should not be taking place. This includes Thanksgiving.
  • Offices can operate at 10% of their posted occupancy limit. Remote work is strongly encouraged.
  • Indoor dining is temporarily closed. Restaurants and coffee shops can still offer takeout and delivery and they can offer outdoor dining with a last call at 8:00 p.m., but only to customers in groups with members of their own household. Alcohol sales must end at 8:00 p.m. for on-premises consumption but takeout may continue until 10:00 p.m. Bars remain closed.
  • Gyms can operate at 10% capacity or allow up to 10 people per room with reservations. They can also operate outdoors in groups of up to 10 people.
  • Group Sports and Camps can operate virtual or outdoors in groups less than 10 people.
  • Non-Critical Manufacturing can operate at 25% or 50 (whichever is fewer).
  • Limited Healthcare and Personal Services continue to operate at 25% or 25 (whichever is fewer).
  • Critical and Non-Critical Retail can operate at 50% capacity with increased curbside pickup and delivery.  Dedicated senior and at-risk hours encouraged.
  • Indoor Unseated and Seated Events / Entertainment are Closed
  • Outdoor Unseated and Seated Events limited to 25% or 75 people (with calculator), attended only with members of your own household and 6ft between groups.
  • Outdoor Guided Services and Entertainment can operate at 25% capacity or 10 people (whichever is fewer).
  • Children’s Day Camps, Residential Camps, Youth Sports Day Camps and Exempt Single Skill-Building Youth Camps may be conducted with no more than 10 participants outdoors only.
  • Critical Businesses and Critical Government Functions may continue to operate without capacity limitations.
  • Houses of worship and Life Rites may operate at 25% of the posted occupancy limit indoors not to exceed 50 people excluding staff, whichever is less, per room. For outdoor worship services, a house of worship must maintain 6 feet distance between non-household members and work with the appropriate local authority to obtain approval for the maximum number of individuals who may attend in the designated outdoor space.
  • Personal Services may operate at 25% of the posted occupancy limit, not to exceed 25 people, whichever is less, per room.

As the situation continues to develop, please visit the Town of Superior COVID-19 webpage to stay up to date with our current level, case numbers and helpful links from Boulder County Public Health, CDPHE and the CDC.  Please continue to wear your face coverings, wash your hands frequently and watch your 6ft. distance. Thank you for all your efforts.

Sincerely,

Mayor Clint Folsom
