STR License Renewal Information |
Dear property owner and/or manager,
You are receiving this email because your current STR license will expire on 9/30/2024 and in order to continue operating your property as a short-term rental, you will need to renew the existing license.
Failure to submit a renewal before the expiration date will result in the loss of your STR license and you may not be eligible to apply for a new STR license due to current basin caps in the Neighborhood Overlay Zone (NOZ).
To renew your STR license, please go to the Host Compliance portal and click on, "Renew an existing short-term rental license". Please read each question and requirement carefully as we will not accept incomplete or incorrect applications.
If you have already renewed your STR license, please disregard this message.

Please note the following updates and documents that will be required for all STR licenses at time of renewal: |
- Rental records from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. Do not include owner stays or canceled reservations. (only applicable for properties in the NOZ)
- If the STR property is served by a well, a well permit is required to be submitted with the renewal. If the property on well also has a hot tub, proof of water augmentation must be submitted
- If there is an outdoor fire pit, a valid fire permit issued by the applicable fire district must be submitted
- If the property is on a septic system, a current (within the last 3 years) pumper report must be submitted
- If the property is owned by an LLC, Trust, or other multiple ownership groups, you will be required to submit a Property Entity Member Form listing all owners of the group.
- Copy of current sales tax license if remitting taxes separately from Airbnb and/or Expedia Group
If you are renewing a Type I STR license, in addition to the above documents, you will also be required to submit current Qualified Occupant documents as listed in Section 6.2.l. of Ordinance 20-C. |
Below are the new STR license fees due upon renewal:
Resort Zone License = $285
Type I License = $230
Type II License = $350

If you no longer wish to short term rent your property and want to close out the STR license, you must completely remove all listings and contact our office requesting the cancellation at str@summitcountyco.gov in order to be in compliance with STR Ordinance 20-C.
