Good afternoon,  

  

On August 14th, the Department of State issued a notice of proposed rulemaking, with a publication date of August 25th, to consider amendments to the Election rules. Please see the link below to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The notice includes details concerning the subject matter of the rulemaking, the public rulemaking hearing, a draft statement of basis, and preliminary draft of proposed rules.

 

 

The public rulemaking hearing is scheduled for September 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Red Rocks Conference Room on the 5th floor of the Department of State's office at 1700 Broadway, Denver, CO 80290. This hearing will be conducted in person and online.

  

Use the registration link (Zoom) to attend the rulemaking hearing online. You will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

  

The Department values your feedback in our rulemaking process, and we would very much like to hear your thoughts on the proposed amendments to the Election rules. You may submit written comments to SoS.Rulemaking@coloradosos.gov regarding the proposed draft rules at any time prior to the close of the written comment period, which will be provided at the conclusion of the hearing. We will make every effort to redact apparent personal identifiable information, non-governmental email addresses, and cellular telephone numbers from submissions before posting the information online, unless otherwise directed by the contributor. All written comments will be added to the official rulemaking record.
