Secretary Williams announces final ballot petitions

*Corrected, includes Jonah Weiss' full name.

DENVER, April 24, 2018 -- Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced today that the final batch of signatures -- for four Democrats -- have been reviewed. One successfully petitioned on to the primary ballot, two fell short and one withdrew her signatures.

Joel Judd, of Denver, is running for a seat he once represented, state House District 5, now held by Speaker of the House Crisanta Duran, D-Denver, who is term limited. Here are the numbers for Judd:

  • Required: 1,000
  • Turned in: 2,497
  • Rejected: 1,496
  • Accepted: 1,001

Brad Levin, an attorney general hopeful, fell short in Congressional Districts 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Here are Levin's numbers:

  • Required: 10,500
  • Turned in: 15,996
  • Rejected: 7,017
  • Accepted: 8,979

Jonah Weiss, of Denver, was running for state Senate District 34, now held by Sen. Lucia Guzman, D-Denver, who is term limited. Here are Weiss' numbers:

  • Required: 1,000
  • Turned in: 1,183
  • Rejected: 361
  • Accepted: 822

Amy Padden, of Denver, was running for attorney general but withdrew her petitions.

Candidates who planned to get on the June 26 ballot through the petition process were allowed to begin collecting signatures on Jan. 16, and were required to turn them in by March 20. During the review process, some of those candidates got on the ballot through the assembly process so their signature review was halted.

Here is an updated list of petition candidates posted on the Secretary of State's web page.
