Ten Teams Battle it Out for a Chance at $25,000

Go Code Colorado hosts an evening to award three teams $25,000 each and celebrate innovation around open data

DENVER, May 11, 2016 — High stakes competition meets Colorado collaboration when Go Code Colorado holds its third annual final competition on May 26th.

The public is invited to spend an evening watching 10 entrepreneur teams from across Colorado battle it out, showing off their ideas for serving business with public data and a chance at $25,000.

The 10 finalist teams — two each from Colorado Springs, Denver, Durango, Fort Collins and Grand Junction — have emerged from a challenge weekend in their respective cities and an intense Mentor Weekend to earn a spot on the stage. The apps and business concepts they will present to an acclaimed panel of judges and large audience aim to help Colorado business owners make better-informed decisions. This year the apps cover a wide spectrum of concepts, from an app that connects local farmers with consumers, to a platform that connects employee personalities with business culture, and everything in between.

“This is a chance for innovative people to use public data to help businesses across the state,” said Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams, whose office funds and organizes Go Code Colorado. “They’re proving the value of public data while showing off Colorado’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. The whole evening is an example of what makes Colorado great.”

The free event will be held at the Seawell Ballroom at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts complex. Come find out which teams will take home $25,000, and celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation in Colorado.
