Do Exit 205 Right: Living with Bears

black bear in tree

As bears prepare to hibernate for the winter, they will forage for up to 20 hours a day. During this time of year, it is essential to be extra vigilant about human-bear conflicts to prevent bears from feeding on trash. When people allow bears to find food, a bear’s natural drive to eat can overcome its wariness of humans. Bears that get too comfortable around people can destroy property or even become a threat to human safety. Learn more about how to live safely and keep bears safe by visiting the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website.
