Do Exit 205 Right: Responsible Leaf Peeping

fall colors

As the trees begin changing colors, Colorado roads and trails become popular destinations for leaf peeping. Explore fall colors during less popular times, and when enjoying the views from the road, pull over in safe, designated parking areas for the best photo ops. Be aware of cars traveling at lower speeds, parked on the roadside or pulling off the roadway.

And don't forget, the bark on trees serves as a protective layer, and carving into it can make them more susceptible to disease and pests. Aspen groves are all one big organism, so if one is infected, the rest may become infected, too. Help protect Colorado’s fall colors by viewing these trees without leaving a mark.
