Maker of the Month: Ruthann Sherrier
Each month, the Art Spot Silverthorne Makerspace highlights a Maker of the Month to showcase the talented artists and creators in our community.
August Maker of the Month, Ruthann Sherrier, credits her elementary art teacher as introducing her to the world of art, and a high school pottery class for sparking her love of ceramics. At the Art Spot, she enjoys "the community of creative individuals and their willingness to share their ideas and knowledge." This community keeps her coming back, turning her ideas into creations as she improves her ceramic skills.
"I am a lifelong learner, and this has led me in lots of different directions over the years. Since high school, I have always wanted to be a potter, and now I finally have the opportunity to fulfill that dream."

Thursday, Aug. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Silverthorne Pavilion
What if we didn’t wait for the things we love to die to celebrate them? What if we celebrated and gave eulogies for the things we value that are still with us? Would people take action to preserve them? Join the Town of Silverthorne and Warm Cookies of the Revolution on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Silverthorne Pavilion as we pay homage to the things we love about our town. This event is part of the Warm Cookies of the Revolution's Future Town Tour and will provide a thought-provoking and entertaining evening that celebrates life in Silverthorne. Listen to performers and speakers, and view artwork that offers a unique perspective on the things that make life so interesting in our mountain town. Celebrate on August 28 with an evening of remembrance and reverence for the things we hold dear, as we will fill our metaphorical cups with performances and our literal plates with cookies.
All are welcome to attend this free community event. The first 100 attendees will receive free tacos from La Perla.

The Silverthorne Art Board seeks an artist or team of artists to create an original mural or art installation on Silverthorne’s Recycling Center Fence. The mural should give a nod to the recycling center and sustainability efforts in Silverthorne and feature educational elements about recycling and its connection to the environment.
Artists are encouraged to incorporate a community participation element into their proposal. This can occur during the creation or installation process, or as part of a recycling awareness event held at the site in conjunction with the unveiling of the installation. The goal is to engage the public in meaningful ways that support environmental awareness and community connection.
This installation will be located on the west-facing fence of the recycling center along River Road in Silverthorne, CO. Artist applications are due on Friday, Aug. 22, at noon. Learn more and submit your artwork for consideration for the recycling fence art installation here.
