Silverthorne Plans to Amend 2025 Budget
The Town of Silverthorne plans to amend the 2025 Budget at the next Silverthorne Town Council meeting on April 9, 2025. Town staff and council members discussed the 2025 budget during the March 26 work session, and staff have recommended amendments to the 2025 budget due to flattening sales tax numbers.
2025 Proposed Budget Amendments
Silverthorne is proposing an amended budget based on a 5% decrease in sales tax from prior year collections. The amended budget includes a reduction of $793,883 in General Fund operating expenditures and a reduction of more than $5 million in expenditures in the Capital Improvement Projects fund. The budget maintains strong reserves to cover the maintenance of Town facilities and assets, debt payments, and ensures no reduction in the levels of service provided to the community. The amended 2025 budget also includes the completion of important community projects such as:
- New traffic signal at Ruby Ranch Rd. and Highway 9
- Recreation Center expansion project
- Completion of the Trent Park expansion and Adams Ave. extension projects
- New sidewalks, funded in part by a $250,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation
- New lighting on the Blue River Trail between Silverthorne Town Hall and the Silverthorne Pavilion

The Town of Silverthorne strives to provide the best water possible for our users and will continue to meet that challenge. Part of that commitment is conducting more testing for PFAS. Since 2023, the Town of Silverthorne has been testing for PFAS on a quarterly basis. The test results have found that the Town of Silverthorne’s water complies with state and federal guidelines and meets the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) maximum contaminant limit (MCL) for PFAS.

For Cristian Salas and his dad, owning their own coffee shop was a long-time dream. “Something that we always dreamed of was bringing Mexican coffee culture to the mountains. With all the shops we visited, we had yet to find places that serve our style of coffee and that show our culture.” Salas recently took over ownership of House of Vibes in Silverthorne and is bringing that culture to the high country.

Greenhouse gas emissions have increased significantly as a result of human activities that increase the greenhouse effect and contribute to climate change. Creating effective policies to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions is the fifth pillar of the Town of Silverthorne’s Sustainability Strategic Plan adopted in August 2024.

Silverthorne Supports Community with Nonprofit Grants
In 2025, the Town of Silverthorne will continue to support local nonprofits by awarding more than $155,000 in cash and in-kind services through its annual grant process.
Silverthorne Town Council has selected 61 nonprofit organizations to receive $70,052 in cash awards and more than $85,000 in in-kind services during 2025. In-kind services include the use of town facilities such as the Silverthorne Pavilion, the Silverthorne Recreation Center, and the town’s parks. A portion of the cash awards are funded by the local nicotine tax.
Each year, Silverthorne participates in a collaborative grant process for nonprofit organizations with other local governments within Summit County. Grant determinations are made by Town Council members based on benefits to Silverthorne residents and the nonprofit organizations’ past performance.
The Summit County Sherriff's Office is undergoing an emergency evacuation assessment for the County. The project will identify wildfire and hazard risk and limitations of the evacuation network and develop operational and communication strategies that can be deployed in emergency conditions. As part of this project, the Sherriff's Office wants to hear from the community in a survey regarding experiences, concerns, and suggestions for the Summit County Comprehensive Emergency Evacuation Assessment. What you share in the survey will help the County Department of Emergency Services and community partners to develop policies, programs, and services to meet your needs.
