“Waste not, want not” is a motto that can benefit people and the planet, and that’s the mission of Summit County’s CAFE Food Rescue. Based in Silverthorne, the nonprofit took over the former Pizza Hut at 175 Stephens Way, and now uses the building as its headquarters and distribution facility.

With Summit County’s only food hall located in Silverthorne, Bluebird Market patrons are lucky to experience a variety of vendors. Popular Upslope Brewing Company has taken over the bar area in the center of the market, opening its Aprés Outpost in September. The same month, Chef Trevor Rhodes, owner of Melody’s Trattoria, jumped at the opportunity to expand and opened Chef Daddy’s Grill with business partner Scott Glaser.

Silverthorne’s Assistant Police Chief Eric Stremel may be new to his role, but he isn’t new to Silverthorne. “My roots are here and it’s one of my favorite places to be,” said Stremel. “I really enjoy being a part of the community, particularly in Silverthorne, and it really feels like home.”

Silverthorne News
Last year, the Colorado Transportation Investment Office (CTIO – the government-owned business within CDOT that oversees Colorado’s Express Lanes) began using new technology to enforce weaving on Express Lane corridors throughout Colorado. This system identifies vehicles that are weaving in and out of the Express Lanes over the solid lines, an action that is unsafe and dangerous for themselves and other motorists. Civil penalties for violating the Express Lane rules start at $75 if paid within 20 days. After 20 days, the fine increases to $150. Learn more at expresslanes.codot.gov.
