Maker of the Month: Brandi Violetta
Each month the Art Spot Silverthorne Makerspace is highlighting a Maker of the Month to showcase the talented artists and creators in our community.
Artist Brandi Violetta was encouraged to express herself through art from a young age. She credits her grandparents for putting art supplies in front of her whenever she would visit and always knew that it would play an important role in her life. "I'm aware that I can become unhappy if I go too long without creating. Art is one of my basic needs," said Brandi.
"When I first heard about the community expression walls, I knew I was going to use them," said Brandi. "Each time I got out for a mural, I felt myself getting faster and learning new techniques. Completion of each mural also helps me reach self-actualization and esteem,to the point where it got addicting and I could not wait to do another."
When using the community expression walls at the Art Spot, Brandi completes her murals in a single session. She loves how fast she can complete a spray paint mural compared to painting on canvas. The ease of access to large, solid surfaces that she can paint on keeps Brandi coming back to the Art Spot to create new murals on the community expression walls.
While Brandi has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Electronic Imaging (computer art and 3D modeling), she has a strong connection to drawing and painting and can never have enough art supplies. She has called Summit County home for 10 years and refers to her artistic style as "pop vomit", dualized bright colors often maximilized with inspiration from comics, graffitti and cartoons.
