Maker of the Month: Santiago Vera
Each month the Art Spot Silverthorne Makerspace is highlighting a Maker of the Month to showcase the talented artists and creators in our community.
Since he was a child, Santiago Vera has had a great admiration for the works of painters and sculptors. As a child he liked to draw and copy images from anime and illustrations and his taste and admiration for drawing, painting, architecture and sculpture led to a degree in Visual Arts at the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas in Chiapas, Mexico. He has since dedicated himself to the creation of studio work and has participated in collective and individual exhibitions of graphic art, painting and more throughout Mexico. Santiago came to the United States in 2024 in search of new opportunities for his artistic creations, to enrich his career as an artist, to acquire new knowledge, and to promote and share his art.
For Santiago, the Art Spot has become his second home “I feel familiar with the space, it reminds me of art school. It is like a second home for me where I can create my pieces since it provides the necessary tools to create and also a coexistence with the artistic colleagues who motivated me to enroll. I am very grateful to them for their motivation.”

Instructor Spotlight: Olesia Lawrence
Art Spot instructor Olesia has been creating art since she was young. Her parents instilled a passion for art in her, providing her with a way ot express herself and keep her busy through art. Olesia says that with so many options to express yourself and experiment, she always has a hard time picking a favorite medium, but her absolute favorite would have to be watercolor and oil paint.
Known in the art world as "Matavoli", Olesia is originally hailing from Ukraine and has been living in Summit County for the past nine years. Living in Colorado, Olesia's biggest inspiration is found in nature. She teaches painting classes at the Art Spot and is inspired by Pablo Picasso - "Everyone is born an artist, but not everyone chooses to stay one." Olesia says that having such an incredible opportunity to shar her art with others, help people elevate their skills and technicques makes her heart incredibly full!
