Bluebird Market Mural Provides Colorful Welcome to Community

Outside of Summit County’s only food hall, Bluebird Market, there’s a new collaborative mural on display. Funded by a National Endowment for the Arts grant, the project included regionally acclaimed muralists Jaime Molina and Pedro Barrios, who also go by The Worst Crew. The Worst Crew designed and installed the mural in collaboration with five local high school students that are a part of the National Arts Honor Society at Summit High School and one local artist, Ryan Halsne.

Trent Park Overflow Lot Closed for Park Expansion Project

During construction, parking will be extremely limited for Trent Park and Willowbrook Trailhead as the current overflow lot is the location for the new park expansion. After construction, new parking spaces will be located along the extended Adams Avenue roadway and at the expanded park site.

For additional parking spaces, community members may park at North Pond Park or Silverthorne Elementary School, cross Hwy 9 at the pedestrian crossing and light, and then follow the sidewalk south to Trent Park.

Water Meter Replacement

The Town of Silverthorne is working with a contractor to replace water meters. Installation typically takes less than an hour and residential water service will be interrupted for five to 10 minutes. Commercial customers may also experience water service interruptions during the installation. To update the water meters, the contractor will need access to the water meter at your property. Water meters are located inside, typically in a mechanical room or crawl space.

There is no cost to water customers to update their meter and there will be no change in water service. Learn more about replacing your water meter and how to schedule an appointment here. If an appointment is not available when you are home in Silverthorne, please contact the Town and we will work with you to replace your water meter.

Living with Bears

As bears prepare to hibernate for the winter, they will forage for up to 20 hours a day. During this time of year, it is important to be extra viligant about human and bear conflicts to keep bears from feeding on trash. When people allow bears to find food, a bear’s natural drive to eat can overcome its wariness of humans. Bears that get too comfortable around people can destroy property or even become a threat to human safety. Learn more about how to live safely with bears, and keep bears safe, by visiting the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website.
