Maker of the Month Nicole Dietze
Each month the Art Spot Silverthorne Makerspace is highlighting a Maker of the Month to showcase the talented artists and creators in our community.
Artist Nicole Dietze has been a dancer, theatre-maker and metalworker since she was a child. "It’s hard to say what got me started! My grandfather was a cabaret performer… maybe it’s in my bones," says Nicole.
Nicole believes that sharing space and creative energy with other artists is good for the soul. "Each time I walk into the Art Spot, I feel welcome and ready to play. And the equipment is fantastic!" Nicole credits her Art Spot membership for providing access to all the items she needs to create. She began silversmithing last year and has been spending time at the Art Spot jeweler’s bench, working on her soldering skills. Nicole has been creating pendants and says it takes three visits to complete one pendant. "It is stupendously satisfying to finally take home that polished piece."
Outside of jewelry making, Nicole is an actor and theatre teaching artist who has collaborated with theatre and dance companies in Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, and along the East Coast. She specializes in movement and new play development, and holds an MFA in Acting from the University of South Carolina. Recently, Nicole co-created The Pastisserie with Theatre Artibus in Denver, which was awarded Best Original Play 2023 by Onstage Colorado. She's currently a teaching artist with Theatre Silco and you can learn more about her theatre experience here.
Up next, Nicole wants to expand her jewelry making to include rings, we can't wait to see how they turn out!
