Project Updates
The project team is preparing to move OIT’s applications and servers out of the eFORT Data Center this weekend. The migration will occur from 6 p.m. on April 19, 2024, until 2 a.m. on April 20, 2024.
OIT supports many functions across our state agency partners, so there may be impacts on systems and applications requiring PingID authentication or OIT (Global Protect) VPN access. Those relying on PingID authentication or requiring access to the OIT VPN will experience intermittent availability during the migration window. If PingID or the VPN is unavailable, users are encouraged to try again in 10 minutes.
Additionally, access to ServiceHub may be intermittently unavailable, and password resets and technical support for the myColorado app may also be intermittently unavailable during the migration window.
The team appreciates your partnership as they complete this important work. They encourage customers to contact their IT directors with additional questions or support requests.
Stay tuned to future editions for more updates on the progress of the eFORT relocation project.
As part of the ongoing efforts to optimize infrastructure and enhance security, we’d like to provide an update on the Windows 2008 Retirement and the SQL Server 2008/2012 Upgrade programs. Both programs aim to first migrate applications and systems from the old servers onto a cloud or physical environment and then decommission the old servers.
By the numbers (in-scope servers):
In-scope server progress is being tracked in the two programs, and OIT plans to complete them by June 30, 2024. Servers that are agency-owned are out of scope for this program.
*Secure Exception: These include servers having potential security risks, and the agency owner has accepted the risk as it is being mitigated. Because separate projects handle the servers with secure exceptions, they are listed separately.
With the migration of the mainframe to the vendor-hosted environment completed, the team is now focused on modernizing and improving several critical applications. Modernization and improvement include incorporating IT Service Management (ITSM) into the new mainframe environment, leading to a better customer experience for our agency partners. We will also be one step closer to ensuring Coloradans will continue receiving life-sustaining benefits and support from our agency partners while setting the foundation for a modern, cost-effective, agile digital government in Colorado.
We have some exciting news! The first phase of the MFT Replacement project has been completed! The team is researching additional project needs that may become part of phase two of the MFT Replacement project.
Keep an eye out for more information in future newsletters!
The project team has been working with our vendor partner to gather and reconcile customer data. This will help the vendor to create our new telecom asset management tools in ServiceHub. They are also hosting customer workshops to learn more about the products and services OIT offers in the telecom asset area.
The project is on track to be completed in October 2024, and we will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
