Mark Colwell, presenting at the State Internet Portal Authority User Conference
On Tuesday, Sept. 27, CBO’s Senior Manager for Broadband Programs, Mark Colwell, presented to nearly 275 participants at the State Internet Portal Authority user conference. The audience included many local leaders from communities across Colorado that deliver digital services to residents. Broadband access is a critical component to delivering digital services. Mark provided an update on the work of the CBO, including state and federal funding opportunities to help close the digital divide.
We are happy to announce that the CBO has contracted with Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (Esri) to procure a broadband serviceable location fabric dataset and to develop and implement a new broadband mapping platform. Esri is teaming with G73 Data Solutions to provide the fabric dataset, which will allow the CBO to map broadband service availability at the location level and provide detailed data to make informed funding decisions. The new mapping platform will transform the way CBO engages and collaborates with our stakeholders and will enable the CBO to deploy broadband infrastructure by supporting planning activities and funding programs. The platform will connect communities, ISPs and other stakeholders through open data, visualization and analytics tools and collaboration apps.
The Broadband Deployment Board (BDB) is pleased to share the timeline of events for the remainder of 2022, including the completion of the Appeals and Right of First Refusal process for the Winter 2022 Grant Cycle, as well as a number of meetings and engagement opportunities. Please be advised that these dates are subject to change.

When you engage people from the community and give them a voice it also gives them hope and has the power to lift them up as well as the community around them. There are many people who want to help and make a difference and sometimes they just need some support to get the ball rolling and they can go on to have a powerful, positive impact in their community.”
How did you get here?

Where’s your favorite place in the world?
“Besides Perú -I am Peruvian - Italy! The food, the architecture, the culture, the people…Italy has it all.”
