The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) helps connect families and households struggling to afford internet service. This benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal Lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer or tablet from participating providers.
Help us spread the word! With students returning to school soon, this is a great time to remind eligible families. Flyers can be handed out at back-to-school nights or in local libraries. Find flyers in English and Spanish or social media graphics here.
Eligible households can enroll through a participating broadband provider or directly with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) using an online or mail-in application.
Learn more about the benefit, including eligibility and enrollment information, by visiting www.fcc.gov/ACP, or by calling 877-384-2575.
We received 87 Letters of Intent (LOIs) to apply for federal funds through Advance Colorado Broadband. 60 out of Colorado’s 64 counties would be impacted by projects outlined in the LOIs, which is great news for Coloradans in every corner of the state. See counties impacted by proposed broadband projects here.
The next step is to review projects and ideas proposed in the LOIs and use that information to prepare the state’s plan for submission to the U.S. Treasury Department. The state must receive approval on our plan to deploy the $171 million from the Capital Projects Fund (CPF) from the Treasury before we can move forward. We expect that approval to come in September. We are also working diligently to provide the data and mapping support applicants need to officially apply for Advance grants in early 2023.
We want to ensure every stakeholder group has a voice in the deployment of these funds so Coloradans can have access to fast, reliable and affordable internet. Please reach out to us at OIT_Broadband@state.co.us if you have any questions or comments on the Advance Colorado Broadband grant program.
