As we enter the Winter 2022 Grant Cycle, please be advised that we are still concluding the Summer 2021 Cycle with a few remaining appeals. We will inform the public of its conclusion by posting final board decisions on our website. Additionally, we are finishing final contracts for the Federal Stimulus Funding awarded by the Board and anticipate that these will be completed by the end of January.

Outreach for the Spring 2022 Colorado Broadband Data Collection Cycle begins this week! Our team began accepting granular coverage data representing broadband service availability from internet service providers (ISPs) in Colorado on Jan. 10 and our data submission deadline is March 4. The data collected in this cycle will be published to the Colorado Broadband Map in April.
ISPs that participate or intend to participate in any State of Colorado broadband grant funding programs are required to submit data for inclusion in the Colorado Broadband Map. All other ISPs are asked to voluntarily participate in order to increase the accuracy of our maps.
Make sure to visit our website to learn about data submission requirements and how to prepare your data. Prepared data can be submitted by emailing our team at oit_broadbanddata@state.co.us. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions about the data submission process.

Happy New Year! Thank you to those who have participated in the Capital Projects Fund (CPF) listening sessions. Sarah Smith and I continue to gather information from stakeholders, so if you missed these sessions, please reach out so we can ensure that your feedback is incorporated. We will be hosting a Broadband Stakeholder Call on Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. to provide updates from the CPF listening sessions. Use this link to add this to your calendar.
OEDIT, the Governor’s Office and the CBO continue to analyze the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to better understand the grant and funding opportunities for Colorado. We do not anticipate much detail on the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program and Digital Equity Act until May and therefore will not have grant opportunities or state funding for ISPs, local government, libraries, etc. until late this year. We will continue to provide updates as we have them.
The U.S. Treasury released the State & Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) Final Rules on Jan. 6. I am still analyzing the direct impacts to eligible uses for broadband, however, the Interim Final Rules apply to any funding from May 2021 until March 31, 2022. The provisions in this final rule are effective April 1, 2022. I will provide more updates on the SLFRF Final Rules January 21 stakeholder call.
We continue to monitor federal programs and highlight recent developments in this space. Please visit our website and follow us on Twitter for more updates on federal broadband news.
