What is happening

The Library will be closed Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 4, for planned system and network updates. Staff will also use these two days to reset the building after a busy summer and prepare for the start of the school year.

What will be unavailable

The building will be closed and, because of the system updates, online services will also be unavailable, including from home:

• Your library account
• Catalog searches and placing holds
• Ebooks, audiobooks, and other digital collections
• Online databases and research tools

How to get ready

• Check out what you need before Monday, August 3. 
• Pick up any holds waiting for you before August 3. Pickup deadlines will be extended automatically, but collecting them early means you will have your items during the closure.
• Log in to Libby and download ebooks and audiobooks to your device before August 3. Users who are already signed into the Libby app on or before Aug. 2 should be able to continue using Libby normally throughout the outage. If you try to log into Libby during the outage, you may not be able to. Titles already downloaded should stay available while our systems are offline.
• Hold onto your returns if you can. The book drop will stay open, but we will not be able to check items in until we reopen. Anything returned during the closure will remain on your account until staff processes it.
• Due dates will be extended automatically. You do not need to do anything. Nothing will come due while we are closed, and no late fees will accrue during the closure.

When services return

We expect all services to be back by the end of the day on Tuesday, August 4, and we will reopen on Wednesday, August 5.

Dust off your boots and mosey over to our latest booklist! From classic shootouts to modern reimaginings of the Old West, Boot Scootin' Westerns rounds up gritty gunslingers, daring outlaws, and wide-open frontiers for your next great read.

Fall Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies pairs teenage volunteers ages 13-17 with children in grades 1-3. The Buddies meet every week to do fun reading-related activities. Applications for Big Buddies open on August 31, and Little Buddies registration opens September 20. The session meets on Sundays from 3:30-4:30 for 7 weeks from October 4 to November 15.

Louisville Cultural Services is developing a new Strategic Plan, and we want your voice in the process. The plan will guide the future of the Louisville Public Library, the Louisville Historical Museum, and the city's arts, culture, and community events.

Colorado Day

Saturday, August 1 | 11 AM – 2 PM | 1001 Main Street
Step back in time and celebrate Colorado Day at the Museum! The Blue Parrot will be returning to Louisville during the event as a food truck. Enjoy old Louisville traditions like pizzelles, Italian games, and a slipper kicking contest. Watch historic actors perform throughout the Museum campus and meet the characters between showtimes. 2nd Annual Old Time Fiddle Contest
