Celebrate Older Americans Month with us! Enjoy Grilled Cilantro Lime Chicken with Avocado Salsa, Greek Pasta Salad, pineapple, and pita, plus a special performance by CU’s acappella group, the Buffoons. Please register by 1:30p.m. on Tuesday, 5/12 to ensure we order enough food. *Suggested donation for those 60+ is $4.75. Those under 60 the fee is $17.50.

Thursday, May 7-May 28, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. In this class, older adults will learn the principles of falling without injury. After finding center through meditation and Japanese yoga, participants will warm up the body with light core exercises and stretches, then practice safe falling on a forgiving matted surface. Instructor: Randy Thompson, 3rd Degree Black Belt in Aikido.

Deborah Cameron makes life story writing approachable and enjoyable. Meet once for inspiration and guidance, write at home between sessions, and then return to share your creation and hear what others have done in a supportive environment. Tuesday, May 26, 1 - 2:30 p.m. Community members 60+ are invited to join Boulder County Assessor Cindy Braddock and Administrative Deputy Erin Gray for a presentation on Tax Remedies for Older Adults. They will explain how property taxes are calculated, how mill levies work, and share information on available programs to help seniors find relief.

Resource Programs
Wednesday, May 6 @ 12:00 p.m. Gretchen Mosca with AAA Colorado will be at lunch to share the benefits of their programs for Older Adults. Lunchtime Resource talks are part of the In-Person lunch program. Presentations are from 12:00-12:30pm at the Brooks Café. If you would like lunch, please make your reservation by 1:30pm the business day before by calling 303-335-4931. If you do not wish to eat lunch, you are welcome to attend the presentation without a reservation at 12:00pm.
Thursday, May 7 @ 1:00 p.m. Fresh Conversations is a nutrition education program for older adults that promotes healthy food and lifestyle to support aging well. Monthly meetings are interactive, including group discussion and goal setting. Participants receive a newsletter for each class based on recent topics and evidence-based nutrition research. Emphasis is placed on eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, healthy fats, less sodium and added sugars. Presented by Boulder County Area Agency on Aging.
Wednesday, May 13 @ 6 - 7:30 p.m. or Thursday, May 21 @ 10 - 11:30 a.m. Medicare Basics Classes, live via Zoom, are designed for anyone wanting to understand Medicare enrollment, plans, benefits, and costs. Our program provides up-to-date, objective information and guidance when comparing and enrolling in Prescription Drug plans (Medicare Part D), Advantage Plans, and information about Supplemental insurance plans (Medigaps). We also provide guidance in the appeal process and information about resources for financial help with Medicare costs.

Brooks Café at the Louisville's Recreation & Senior Center offers a welcoming space for older adults to enjoy affordable, nutritious meals and socialize.
