Friday, Dec. 19 updates: Downed power line dangers, dust plumes can look like smoke, avoid driving
Downed power lines a real danger
Power lines are down around Boulder County. If you see a downed power line, stay at least 30 feet away, assume it’s live and dangerous, and immediately call 911 to report it as an electrical emergency.
What to do near downed power lines
Dust plumes can look like smoke
The wind is kicking up large amounts of dust that can sometimes look like smoke. If what you see dissipates quickly, it is likely dust. Please err on the side of caution. If you see dark smoke, see flames, or smell smoke, call 911 immediately.
Office of Disaster Management call center open
The Office of Disaster Management Call Center is open today, Dec. 19, to assist with answering general questions about the wind event. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Call Center is anticipated to be open until 10 p.m. today.

The call center will not be able to answer specific questions about utility operations or service restoration. For these questions, contact your utility provider.
