Help guide the future of Parks, Open Space, Trails, Recreation & Senior Center, Coal Creek Golf Course
You can participate by taking a survey and visiting the Open House
Big things are happening in Louisville—and we want you to join us on the journey!
The Parks, Recreation & Open Space (PROS) Department is creating a new Guidebook to shape the future of Louisville’s Parks, Open Spaces, Trails, Recreation & Senior Center, and Coal Creek Golf Course.
The Guidebook includes two related plans:
-
The Long-Range Plan: for Parks, Open Spaces, Recreation & Senior Center, and Coal Creek Golf Course
-
The Trails Master Plan: for trails and trail connections
Together, these plans will guide the PROS Department for the next 10+ years. It will:
- Replace the current Parks and Recreation Master Plan (last updated in 2012)
- Create the City’s first Trails Master Plan, as identified by the City Charter
- Complement previous plans (including the City Comprehensive Plan) and inform future studies, plans, and priorities
Public input is essential. To get it right, we need to hear from the people who live, work, play, walk, bike, gather, and explore here—that means you. Your feedback will help shape the future of the places you love and ensure the Guidebook reflects the diverse interests and evolving needs of the Louisville community.
How to get involved
Take the Survey!
All households in Louisville will receive a postcard inviting them to participate in a survey (one response per household) around the end of September. In addition, starting in mid-October, the City will launch an open-link survey available to anyone interested, including those who do not live in Louisville but visit, work, or spend time here. While open-link responses will be analyzed separately from the statistically valid sample, they will still provide valuable feedback to guide the City’s planning. Responses are confidential and collected by independent research firm RRC Associates.
Survey results will guide future investments, responsible growth, and community priorities—covering everything from outdoor recreation amenities, playgrounds, courts, and facilities to natural area conservation, trails, programs, and land acquisitions.
If you don't receive a postcard or require a paper survey, email support@rrcassociates.com
