City of Louisville, Louisville Fire Protection District to test emergency alerts on Wednesday, Oct. 23
Louisville, Colo. — The City of Louisville, in partnership with the Louisville Fire Protection District, will perform a test of emergency alerts on Wednesday, October 23 at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The test will take place using the countywide BOCO Alert system. Residents who are enrolled in BOCO Alert and have enabled alerts for an address within either the City of Louisville or the Louisville Fire Protection District will receive a test alert via the notification methods they selected (text message, email, phone call, and/or push notification). Residents who have signed up to receive alerts via the Reachwell app, which provides translated alerts in over 100 languages, will also receive the test alert via that platform. This test will not include sirens or Wireless Emergency Alerts.
“We have spent the nearly three years since the Marshall Fire building partnerships, investing in mitigation, and working to ensure Louisville is fully prepared to handle future crises,” said Louisville Police Chief Rafael Gutierrez. “Performing this emergency alerts test will reassure residents that they will receive these critical notifications when they matter most, and provides us with a great opportunity to encourage those who aren’t yet enrolled to sign up for alerts.”
From 12–5 p.m. on Oct. 22 and from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Oct. 23, residents can call the City’s hotline at 303-335-4899 with any questions they may have before, during, and after the test. Residents can also direct questions about Louisville’s test to Recovery & Resilience Manager Kiana Freeman at KFreeman@LouisvilleCO.gov, or questions specifically about the BOCO Alert system to AlertHelp@BoulderCounty.gov.
