 Honoring Indigenous Peoples
This November, join us in celebrating National Native American Heritage Month with our carefully curated collection of books by and about Indigenous peoples. From award-winning fiction that weaves traditional storytelling with contemporary narratives, to insightful non-fiction exploring Native history, culture, and modern experiences, these works offer readers meaningful pathways to understanding and appreciation.
 Fall StoryWalk
Join us for StoryWalk featuring "Water is Water" by Miranda Paul! Follow the story as you stroll along the paved path at Cottonwood Park, where each page of this beautiful picture book will guide you through the many amazing forms of water. Drop by on November 5 from 4-5 p.m. for a special celebration with crafts and refreshments, or explore the StoryWalk at your own pace through November 26. The StoryWalk is accessible whenever the park is open.

Historical Museum First Friday: Funky Foods
Friday, November 1 | 6–8 p.m. Louisville Historical Museum (1001 Main Street) From fermentation to hot soda, this First Friday is all about different types of funky foods. The first twenty guests will get to participate in a sauerkraut making demonstration! Join us at this open house style event to taste and find recipes for these interesting foods. Learn more.
Ranger Walk: Louisville During the Great War
Sunday, November 10 | 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Harney Lastoka Open Space (100 S. 96th Street) The Great War of 1914-1918 changed the world. Learn how this conflict affected people, coal, agriculture, and mining in Boulder County and the Louisville area. Join the City’s Ranger Naturalist and Louisville Historical Museum staff for a walking tour of Open Space areas that show traces from Louisville’s contributions to the war effort. The tour leaves from Kerr Gardens. Please leave pets at home for all Open Space events. Leashed service pets permitted. Registration required.
Louisville Native American History
Thursday, November 14 | 6:30–8 p.m. Louisville Public Library (951 Spruce Street) Learn about Indigenous History from Rick Williams, Oglala Lakota/Northern Cheyenne, in "The Truth about how American Indians were removed from the Front Range of Colorado,” the findings of the Truth Restoration and Education Commission (TREC). Rick was president and CEO of the American Indian College Fund from 1997-2012 and is president of People of the Sacred Land, an American Indian led non-profit organization that supports Indigenous Peoples’ rights in the state. Registration required.
