Littleton City Council Approves SCHEELS Incentive
Littleton has been selected as the home of an exciting new retail destination, following city council’s approval of an economic incentive package that clears the way for construction of a SCHEELS destination store at the Mineral Place development, which is expected to open in 2029.
SCHEELS is an employee-owned all-sports retailer. The approximately 300,000-square-foot Littleton location will feature a 60-foot hubless Ferris wheel, Rollerball bowling lanes and a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium.
SCHEELS is also notable for its community involvement, with a culture of volunteerism and investment in community causes with an average commitment of 4% of profits back to the local community.
SCHEELS will bring more than 500 new retail jobs and hundreds of construction jobs to Littleton, as well as indirect benefits stemming from employee training, increased employment, tourism, lodger’s tax, store events, community events, and more.
Littleton residents will enjoy the benefits of exciting attractions, a stronger tax base to support vital city programs and services for the long-term, a healthier local economy, and an enthusiastic partner in community-driven causes — caring for what residents love today, while thoughtfully preparing for the future.
The estimated economic benefit of a store of SCHEELS’ magnitude under the incentive agreement far outweighs the potential economic benefit of an alternative retailer on the site without an incentive.

Project Downtown: Project PARKing Seeks Business Feedback; Open House October 5
The City of Littleton is moving forward with the Main Street Improvements Project, the first phase of implementation of Project Downtown, the city’s adopted plan for improving mobility, streetscapes, and the downtown experience. Planned improvements will modernize aging infrastructure, restore trees and landscaping, and enhance safety, walkability, and downtown's distinctive character.
With funding secured and the project delivery team assembled, Main Street is now entering preliminary design. This phase will address deferred maintenance, evaluate parking and curbside needs, and develop a construction strategy that minimizes business impacts.
Alongside Project Main Street, the city is also working on Project PARKing, Littleton’s Parking and Curbside Management Strategy, to better understand and manage parking and curbside needs across Littleton, with a focus on key commercial areas. The strategy will help the city plan for parking and access during and after the Main Street improvements while also addressing needs along Littleton Boulevard and broader parking trends across the city.
At this point in the study, the project team wants to hear where businesses have parking concerns or see opportunities downtown, along Littleton Boulevard, and elsewhere in the city.
Join the conversation! Attend the Project Downtown Public Open House for a gallery-style presentation with information about the entire project, interactive opportunities to share your feedback, and project team members available for discussions.

Blueprint Boulevard Open House, Business Survey Coming
The Blueprint Boulevard project team is surveying Littleton Boulevard business owners and stakeholders. The survey seeks feedback on current business vitality conditions along or near the corridor and perspectives on future possibilities.
Businesses should expect a separate survey email within the coming days (checking spam folders is recommended). The survey closes on October 12, and requires approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Survey responses will guide the project team as the project advances to the focus area recommendations phase.
An upcoming open house event October 12 will build on community input received so far, and analysis of the current conditions of Littleton Boulevard.
The next phase of the planning process is the development of recommendations for each of the plan’s focus areas, which will provide strategies to achieve the vision and goals for Littleton Boulevard and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Community feedback at the open house will help create the long-term vision and goals for Littleton Boulevard and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Arapahoe Community College’s Colorado Space Institute Receives $1.3M NASA Grant
The Colorado Space Institute (CSI) at Arapahoe Community College (ACC) has been awarded $1.3 million from NASA’s Aerospace State Hubs program to strengthen Colorado’s aerospace technician workforce over the next three years.
Selected as one of just seven NASA Hubs nationwide, CSI will leverage Colorado’s educational and aerospace infrastructure to formalize competency frameworks, expand apprenticeships and internships, and integrate security-readiness education into technician pathways.
“This investment allows CSI to bring together education, industry, and workforce partners across Colorado to create clear pathways into high-demand aerospace technician careers,” said CSI Director Grace Crain-Wright. “By aligning training with employer needs, we can prepare more students for careers that support both Colorado’s aerospace economy and NASA’s mission.”
The initiative addresses critical shortages in the nation’s aerospace technical workforce by connecting government, industry, education, and economic development partners.

Downtown Gets Spooky with ‘Bones About Town’
This October, the Littleton Downtown Development Authority is hosting Bones About Town, a quirky scavenger hunt offering downtown visitors the opportunity to support local merchants and win prizes.
Participants are invited to find one of more than two dozen skeletons clinging to lampposts throughout Downtown Littleton, then scan attached “toe tags” for an opportunity to win one of four $100 gift cards to Downtown Littleton businesses. One grand prize winner will receive a $250 gift card to a business of their choice.
The campaign encourages people to walk from block to block, discover participating businesses and spend more time downtown, while bringing local businesses together around one playful, shared theme. Bones About Town adds Halloween flair to the district while reinforcing the importance of shopping local and creating a lively, connected downtown experience.
